Mamata Bannerjee meets PM. To meet Sonia Gandhi n Sharad Pawar on Wednesday. Anti BJP unity on anvil ?

The West Bengal chief minister Mamata Bannerjee is on a five day tour of the national capital Territory of Delhi after her third thumping consecutive victory in the state assembly elections though she lost from Nandigram assembly constituency to BJP.

She met the prime minister Narendra Modi today and deliberated on significant issues urging him to supply the vaccine quote to the state as well as a dire need for a supreme Court monitored high level probe in the ongoing “Pegasus” imbroglio that has rocked both the houses of parliament. West Bengal CM Bannerjee also appealed to prime minister Narendra Modi to take an initiative to call an all party meeting to discuss the NSO’s Pegasus controversy including a decisive action for an Apex court led probe.

According to the West Bengal CM she also met the Congress leaders, former CM Madhya Pradesh and senior leader Kamal Nath and former Union Minister Anand Sharma at her South Avenue residence.

She disclosed that nothing important was discussed in the meeting as it was more a courtesy call to congratulate her on her recent victory.

However, there were deliberations on the current political situation and the inflation etc but on opposition unity added that it will take it’s own shape in the coming months.

Mamata Bannerjee is likely to meet the Congress’s interim president Sonia Gandhi at 10 Janpath on Wednesday. She will also meet the NCP supremo Sharad Pawar.

According to the news floating in, the West Bengal CM would be staying in Delhi for the next five days and would be meeting several opposition leaders to explore the possibilities of forming a credible political alternative to the BJP led NDA government being the nucleus of the possible opposition unity, the efforts for which had been made in the past as well, but could not fructify as Samajwadi Party leaders Mulayam Singh Yadav and Akhilesh Yadav including BSP supremo Mayavati drifted apart despite the anti BJP opposition parties trying their best to come under the opposition umbrella.

However, the Trinamool Congress leaders are highly optimistic that Mamata Banerjee’s five day visit will definitely bear fruits of anti BJP opposition unity as her meetings with maximum Congress leaders today and with Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday unambiguously indicate her priority in this direction.

It may be recalled that after her landslide victory in West Bengal despite the prime minister, home minister and entire central cabinet concentrating here, ( WB) including encouraging several TMC leaders n law makers’ to defect in BJP as well, the image of Mamata Bannerjee has further elevated establishing her as a forthcoming national leader around whom lies a potential magnetic field to attract anti BJP opposition leaders for a credible political alternative in the near future.
