Rahul Gandhi Meets President Murmu Over ‘Vote Chori’; INDIA Bloc Seeks Action Against Election Commission

NEW DELHI, October 9, 2026:

The meeting came amid escalating opposition protests over alleged “vote chori” (vote theft), disputed voter-list revisions and demands for accountability from Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

The delegation urged the President to take cognisance of the opposition’s concerns and the issues surrounding the conduct of elections.

After the meeting, speaking to reporters Rahul Gandhi thanked the president Murmu for being extremely cordial to them and assuring about the necessary action in this regard if they submit their complaints with necessary evidence. Rahul Gandhi said that they were surprised that even the president was shocked and assured of the necessary action asking for the proofs which the Congress leaders said they will provide forthwith.
LOP said : “I was surprised that when we informed her about ‘vote chori’, she did not deny it. She did not say that elections are not being stolen in India. Instead, the President asked us to bring evidence of vote theft. We are ready to provide that evidence,” Rahul said, according to his remarks.

The delegation also presented the two page memorandum to the president signed by Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge and leaders of various constituents of India National Developmental Inclusive Alliance.

I just sat in quite an unbelievable meeting with the President of India.

We presented our memorandum to her outlining PM Modi and HM Amit Shah’s gross subversion of India’s electoral system and seeking CEC Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation. I was shocked that the President did not deny Vote Chori.

Instead, she asked us to bring her proof. We will bring her a mountain of it. The INDIA bloc will gladly submit every piece of evidence before her.

We welcome her assurance that she will examine the matter and take action said Rahul Gandhi in social media.
