ACP Manasvi Vashishta who protested at PHQ suspended for violation of discipline

Delhi Police Assistant Commissioner of Police Manasvi Vashishta has been suspended today on November 3, 2026 for violation of discipline after he led a protest by Delhi Police personnel outside the Delhi Police Headquarters, with the order issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on the recommendation of Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar. The suspension follows a chain of events that began on October 23 at Shahdara police station where a parking dispute outside a salon in Rohtash Nagar escalated into a scuffle inside the police station in which advocate Lalit Bansal allegedly sustained a head injury while the salon owners alleged that lawyers assaulted them, after which the Coordination Committee of All District Courts Bar Associations alleged that ACP Vashishta, who was then posted as SDPO Gandhi Nagar, displayed his revolver and threatened advocates who had come to enquire about the assault case. Following an indefinite strike called by lawyers across district courts demanding action, Delhi Police on October 28 transferred Vashishta to the Special Police Unit for Women and Children and SHO Arun Kumar to the Security Branch, after which lawyers called off their strike. However, on the morning of November 2, around 100 to 150 police personnel including women officers gathered outside Gate No. 1 of the police headquarters holding placards and demanding reinstatement of the two officers and a meeting with the Commissioner, raising five demands including framing a standard operating procedure for handling confrontations involving lawyers, restricting the entry of lawyers into a police station to five at a time and registration of FIRs against lawyers allegedly involved in misconduct towards police personnel. The protest, which is being seen as a rare show of dissent within the force, was viewed by the top brass as a grave indiscipline, leading to the immediate suspension of ACP Manasvi Vashishta who had joined and addressed the gathering.
