Chief minister couldn’t reply to Media’s question regarding bringing notification on NSA ?

Sounds ironical that when the journos asked Uttarakhand chief minister about the reason behind enforcing National Security Act in Uttarakhand, he, instead of appropriately responding to this trivial question, preferred to diplomatically say them good bye, smilingly, with folded hands, unambiguously giving an impression that he had no perfect or satisfactory answer to this question.

The chief minister held a press conference to answers queries if media men in this regard.

However, the main opposition party of Uttarakhand Congress has taken this extremely seriously with the state Congress president Ganesh Godiyal saying that the BJP government led by Pushkar Singh Dhami is badly apprehensive of losing the election and has accepted its defeat thus bringing out notification to enforce NSA in Uttarakhand to curb the democratic voices of the protesting government employees at the decentralised levels, especially electricity department’s protesting employees who are fighting for justice, to get their genuine demands fulfilled.

While strongly condemning this decision Ganesh Godiyal accused the ruling party BJP and it’s CM to scuttle the voice of the protesting people in various districts of Uttarakhand fighting peacefully for their genuine rights by putting them behind bars, especially when elections are round the corner.

The former Uttarakhand CM Harish Rawat had yesterday also deplored this government’s decision to enforce NSA saying that it’s a clear indication of the state government fearful of being on the back foot due to its failures on all fronts.

In a tweet veteran Congress leader Harish Rawat tweeted in Hindi : In ordinary sense the govt has accepted its defeat in controlling the situations in the state. But it is anguishing that it has taken a decision to enforce NSA which will squeeze the citizens rights. This will also create terror in the minds of the people fighting democratically for their justifiable demands and rights. Under the guise of enforcing it, it will misuse it as well, tweeted for Uttarakhand CM n chairman of the state election campaign committee Harish Rawat.

The former president of Uttarakhand Congress and leader of the Vanadhikar Andolan Kishore Upadhyay too condemned the notification to enforce NSA in Uttarakhand for three months.

He demanded immediate revocation of this draconian law saying that he never expected from a youthful chief minister like Pushkar Singh Dhami, especially a day after Mahatma Gandhi Jayanthi in the month of October that witnessed the most barbaric massacre of Uttarakhand’s peaceful andolankaries in Majaffar Nagar, you being one of the Uttarakhand movement activists said Kishore Upadhyay.

Addressing the press conference the chief minister while not having any satisfactory answer for taking a decision on enforcement of NSA in the state said that whatever decision his government is taking, it is for the well being and good of Uttarakhand and it’s people.

We are all working for the welfare n wellbeing of Uttarakhand and will ensure that the demands of its inhabitants will be fulfilled. But the CM didn’t had any answer for the decision to enforce NSA to media questions except smilingly leaving the venue with folded hands.

Meanwhile leader of UK Sakht Bhu Kanoon Andolan Prabhat Kumar Karal while reacting on the notification issued by Uttarakhand government said that the state government has initiated this action in desperation and frustration.

The government has realised that the inhabitants of the state are groaning and no policies of the government are being implemented for people’s well being said leader of the Bhu Sakht Kaanun Andolan Prabhat Kumar Karal.

Criticizing the BJP government for failing to successfully implement it’s policies for the well being of UK inhabitants Karal said the elections are due after five months and the image of the ruling party has gone down as disenchanted people are on roads engaged in various movements, the one being cumulative demand for a stringent Land Act.

He accused the BJP government of trying to scuttle the cumulative voice of the people relentlessly struggling for implementation of a strong Land act in Uttarakhand. He said that a long 700 kilometre Yatra in support of Bhu Kanoon is being commenced shortly in Uttarakhand to cover Garhwal and Kumaon division. In case the government tries to stop them under guise of NSA it will have to be prepared to face the peoples disenchantment and anger n socio political consequences said Prabhat Kumar Karal in a statement.

It may be recalled that Uttarakhand elections are round the corner and every political party especially main opposition Congress is in search of such issues in which it can capitalise to downgrade the ruling party government already on back foot having anti incumbency factor to on its head. The recent tragic Lakhimpur Kheeri episode in which 8 farmers n 1 journo have been brutally killed and Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi arrested has also impacted the ruling party governments in every state with farmers going against BJP. In such a situation enforcing NSA has denitinely put the ruling political dispensation on back foot in Uttarakhand say political analysts.

  1. I can only feel sorry for Uk . Due to incompetence in Congress / Bjp leadership , Uttarakhand has failed to solve several long term problems . Besides there is a tussle between the environmental issues and developmental issues in the Himalayan region.
Thank God our Gujarat has been well developed under the Chiefministership of NaMo who turned every challange into opportunity, be it the desert , coastal area, earthquake prone region, drought areas or just anything.
    Sorry UK
