District Magistrate Swati S. Bhadoria conducted a comprehensive inspection of the Lansdowne-Jayharikhal area and thoroughly reviewed the development works.

District Magistrate of Pauri Garhwal Swati S. Bhadauria conducted a comprehensive field inspection of the Lansdowne and Jayharikhal areas on Saturday, reviewing various departmental arrangements, ongoing projects, and development works. During the inspection, she instructed the concerned officials to ensure quality, safety, cleanliness, and timely execution of work.
The District Magistrate stated that quality should be the top priority in development works, and special care should be taken to ensure that the public is not inconvenienced.
She placed special emphasis on conducting construction work in a planned manner and prioritizing public amenities.



First, the District Magistrate inspected the Lansdowne Tehsil. During the inspection, she observed the revenue accounting section, the legal section, the drinking water system, the cleanliness of the toilets, the information board, records, registers, and the modern record room.
She instructed that signage be installed in the office and the premises be kept clean and organized.
During this period, the District Magistrate inspected the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Tehsildar, and Naib Tehsildar courts and inquired about the judicial and administrative arrangements. She also interacted with PRD and Home Guard volunteers and listened to their problems.
She also directed them to submit proposals for the construction of housing for tehsil employees. She also reviewed the attendance register and files related to disaster relief work. She also inquired about the progress of agricultural stock from the Statistics Officer.
The District Magistrate then inspected the Public Works Department’s inspection building.
She directed that the beautification work within the building complex be completed within a month, including cleaning, painting, planting trees, and installing decorative lights.
She also placed special emphasis on installing information boards and maintaining the building’s well-organized structure to preserve and showcase its historical significance.
The District Magistrate inspected the 10,000-liter Sakmunda drinking water tank in the Jayharikhal development block. She directed officials to ensure uninterrupted drinking water supply in all areas and to have alternative arrangements ready in case the pumping system is disrupted, so that the public does not face a drinking water crisis.
She directed the installation of signboards at all drinking water points and asked the sub-district magistrate to ensure regular inspections of drinking water schemes constructed under the district plan.
The district magistrate observed the drinking water supply process and directed the Jal Nigam officials to prepare and submit a detailed proposal based on the suggestions presented.
The District Magistrate also inspected the Bhaktadarshan Government Postgraduate College, Jayharikhal, located in Syalgaon. During the inspection, the college’s Principal, Professor L.R. Rajvanshi, requested transportation facilities for the students, to which the District Magistrate assured necessary action by coordinating with the Transport Department.
During the inspection, security measures such as a security wall, barbed wire fencing, and CCTV cameras on the college campus were also discussed in detail. Inspecting the building under construction, the District Magistrate directed the executing agency, the Mandi Parishad, to complete the construction work by June 30th at all costs. She also directed them to begin the construction of the retaining wall immediately.
The District Magistrate inspected the land for the proposed building for the classrooms and labs of the PG Block and found no work being carried out at the site.
Expressing displeasure, she directed that all workers be available by tomorrow. The District Magistrate also inspected the library building and auditorium hall and praised the arrangements. She catagorically said that strengthening the basic facilities in educational institutions is essential so that students can have a better educational environment.
Following this, the District Magistrate conducted a site inspection of the under-construction Gumkhal-Satpuli National Highway, assessing the quality of construction work, traffic management, and safety arrangements.
Expressing strong displeasure over the debris lying along the roadside, she directed the concerned officials to immediately improve the arrangements.
The District Magistrate directed that junior engineers be present at the work site at all times, as per the roster, and that construction work should not be left unfinished anywhere. She also instructed to make the traffic management system effective, station JCB operators at necessary locations, ensure adequate lighting, and work only in limited areas at a time, preventing traffic disruptions for more than 10 minutes.
While instructing to ensure regular water sprinkling to control dust and to complete the blacktop work quickly, the District Magistrate said that road construction work should be expedited before the rains. She directed that 6 kilometers of blacktop work be completed by June 5th and cutting work continued even at night.
The District Magistrate clearly stated that construction work should not be carried out in a haphazard manner at multiple locations simultaneously, but rather in a phased and well-planned manner, so that passengers face minimal inconvenience. During the inspection, she inquired about the workers’ accommodation, food, and safety arrangements and directed that all workers be provided with the necessary safety equipment.
She also directed that the retaining wall on the hillside be constructed in accordance with technical standards and that no compromises be made on quality.
The District Magistrate also inquired about the condition of the cemented drains and dumping zone. Junior engineers informed him that within the next week, clear improvements in the road’s cleanliness and arrangements would be visible.
The District Magistrate instructed the project manager to ensure that a detailed report on the progress of the work is submitted within the next 15 days.
During the inspection, Sub-District Magistrate Shalini Maurya, Executive Engineer PWD Vivek Kumar, Jal Nigam Ajay Belwal, In-charge Tehsildar Vidyanand Semwal, Nazir Manoj Rawat, Revenue Sub-Inspector Ashok Chandra Joshi, Chief Administrative Officer Bijendra Bhandari, along with officials from the Revenue Department and Police Department were present. Assistant Engineer Khuswant Sharma and Project Manager Pawanesh Vyas of the National Highway Dhumakot Division were also present.
