Two tourists , a lady and a man died after being drowned in the Ganges near Singtali pul at Rishikesh

Despite several warnings by the SDRF and the local administration of Rishikesh and Haridwar not to risk lives and bath inside the Ganges water in view of the powerful tides, the tourists coming to Rishikesh and Haridwar violate the restrictions and the caution messages of the administration and risk their lives by going in the middle the the Ganges not knowing about its depth including swimming.
Several persons have died after drowning in the speedy forcefull tides of Ganga in Rishikesh and Haridwar after going at the middle of the fast flowing river.
A day before a group of Das Hyundai from Meerut have come to Rishikesh to enjoy their day in the eve of Eid holiday.
On seeing the Ganges’ cool water their could restrict themselves and went inside the river for taking bath.
While the four rescued themselves the two of the tourists of Das Hundai, Meerut went far ahead in the Ganges at Singtali bridge.
Since they weren’t knowing how to swim a lady and a man Ritu and Upadhyay were drowned inside the fast flowing powerful tides of the Ganges and couldn’t be traced even by the SDRF divers who did the extensive search for several hours.
The members of the group on seeing the risk to the drowning friends shouted for help but the SDRF reached the spot late and searched for the victims but could locate them after extensive search unambiguously meaning that both of them died.
Such tragedies have taken place in the past too. The tourists coming to Rishikesh should not attempt to go inside the Ganges unless they know swimming.
If at all they want to bath they should do so at the bank and not by going in the middle of the river.
Meanwhile, in another incident the people of Haridwar set an example of humanity, risking their lives to save a young woman from Delhi who was drowning in the Ganga Canal.
