Smt. Shyama Devi, mother of the late world-renowned shooter Jaspal Rana, passed away on June 28, 2026, at 8:00 pm in a Delhi hospital after a prolonged illness.
Coincidentally, Jaspal Rana was born on this day, June 28, 1976, at 8:00 pm in Uttarkashi. Exactly 50 years later, on the same day and at the same time, his mother breathed her last.
The sad part is that Jaspal Rana had passed away 15 days ago, but the family hadn’t informed Shyama Devi. Weakened by illness, Shyama Devi longed to see her son Jaspal until her last breath. Little did she know that her “golden boy” had already passed away.
Shyama Devi’s husband, Mr. Narayan Singh Rana, gave this information emotionally. He said that every year on June 28th, the entire family celebrated Jaspal Rana’s birthday with great joy. Today, that day has turned into a day of deep mourning for the family. Mr. Narayan Singh Rana said that he is devastated by his wife’s passing. Losing both his son and wife in the same fortnight is unbearable for him. The family is in a state of mourning.
