Padmashree international shooter Jaspal Rana is the chief shooting coach in Tokyo Olympics

The shooter of eminence and popular internationally, having won prestigious Arjun, Padma Shree and Dronacharya awards for outstanding pistol shooting, accompanying several gold medals in Commonwealth, Asian and national competitions bringing laurels for the nation, Jaspal Rana has been appointed as the chief coach of shooting in the Tokyo Oympics, Japan to be commenced from 23 rd July, 2021.

Known as the Golden boy of India Jaspal Rana has raised the national tricolour high globally having won several international and national golds in shooting bringing laurels for the nation giving a new and powerful impetus to shooting in India thereafter serving as a senior Coach further helping and training budding shooters as Manu Baker, Devanshi Rana etc to bag several golds for India in various international and national shooting competitions.

His father Narayan Singh Rana former minister in Utarakhand n president of Uttarakhand Rifle Association has been the main force of inpiration who did his best to ensure that Jaspal becomes an outstanding shooter leaving his job as a VIP commando also worked with Rajiv Gandhi. What is unique about Jaspal’s family is that his fatger, mother, wife, daughter and brother Subhash are all shooters with Devanshi n Subhash gold medalist. His younger brother Subhash had also been the coach in International shooting championsips of Junior Shooters in Australia n other countries, still training the budding shooters.

It may be recalled that born on 28 June 1976 Jaspal Rana is an Indian shooter. He contested mainly in the 25 m Centre Fire Pistol category. He was a gold medallist at the 1994 Asian Games, 1998 Commonwealth Games- Men’s Center Fire Pistol, Men’s Center Fire Pistol Pairs in 2002 Commonwealth Games- Men’s 25m Center Fire Pistol, 2006 Commonwealth Games – Men’s 25m Center Fire Pistol Pairs, and 2006 Asian Games. At present, Rana coaches at the Jaspal Rana Institute of Education and Technology in Dehradun and Delhi.
