New Delhi: Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim brought an unexpected Bollywood twist to his India visit when he rendered Kishore Kumar’s evergreen romantic number ‘Khwab Ho Tum Ya Koi Haqeeqat’ from the 1965 film Teen Deviyan.
The Prime Minister, who is in India for the BRICS Summit, was seen singing the iconic song extempore at a five-star hotel in New Delhi. Standing beside a piano with a man playing it, Anwar Ibrahim sang in jubilation, leaving the audience present both surprised and delighted. The musical moment offered a glimpse into his long-standing admiration for Indian cinema and its music.
It may be recalled that this popular Bollywood song was composed by legendary music director S.D. Burman and penned by iconic lyricist Majrooh Sultanpuri. Originally picturised on Dev Anand, the song remains one of Kishore Kumar’s most melodious and cherished renditions.
Anwar’s soulful performance comes during his first visit to India since assuming office as Malaysia’s Prime Minister in 2022, a trip that also marks an important phase in India-Malaysia bilateral relations. His spontaneous Bollywood act not only entertained those present but also struck a cultural chord, highlighting the deep-rooted cinematic and musical connection between the two nations.
