Uttarakhand to Seek Answers from CBI on Ankita Bhandari Case; Massive Protest Announced on Her Death Anniversary
Dehradun, 15th September 2026:
The people of Uttarakhand, including the badly traumatised parents of late Ankita Bhandari, have announced a massive protest demonstration at the CBI office in Indranagar, Seemdwar, Dehradun, giving a call on social media appealing to the people to turn up in large numbers to question the Central Bureau of Investigation about the progress made in the case, especially regarding the unravelling of the mystery of the VIP, who is alleged to be the main culprit behind the brutal murder of Ankita.
The protest has been called on 18th September 2026, which marks the death anniversary / punyatithi of Ankita Bhandari. The organisers have issued a public appeal letter seeking cooperation from all justice-loving people of the state.
The appeal letter states:
“Respected colleagues,
_It is our moral and human responsibility towards a daughter to keep the voice of justice for her alive by raising it from time to time.
Come, let us ask questions to the CBI
Come, let us raise the voice of justice again.
Come, let us not just remember Ankita –
Let us demand complete justice for her.
Your presence is expected in this public call for justice._

It may be recalled that Ankita Bhandari, a 19-year-old receptionist at Vanantra Resort in Rishikesh, was brutally murdered in September 2022, a case that shook the entire nation and Uttarakhand. While three accused including Pulkit Arya, son of a former BJP leader, were convicted, the question of the alleged VIP for whom Ankita was being pressured to provide “special services” has remained unanswered.
The parents and the people of Uttarakhand allege that the investigation has deliberately shielded the influential VIP and are now directly seeking answers from the CBI, to which the case was handed over. The social media call has already gone viral, with several social organisations, youth groups and women’s organisations extending support for the demonstration.
