In Uttarakhand the leopards/ tigers are frequently roaming around on roads, near human habitats, near agricultural fields, behind bushes, even in towns and densely populated areas in search of food and often become maneaters being extremely hungry as human encroachment, building of roads, rail projects , commercial buildings, hotels , resorts inside the jungles , near the river banks has compelled the animals change their natural habitats and therefore shortage of food.
There are therefore roaming freely, hungry, near human habitats, near villages, inside villages and even towns posing direct threat to the human beings.
There had been hundreds of human kills by the carnivores who have now turned into human eaters, the predators.
Though human wild animals conflict has been an age old problem but these years it has been extremely frequent and fatal.
On an avarage every week there are two/ three wild life human conflicts and fatal kills by maneaters.
The maneaters are seen roaming around on roads and twinships and attacking human beings even by way of pouncing on them while on motorbike.
Such fatal attacks by maneaters have been witnessed in Ram Nagar inside jungles roads , in Pauri township, near Ghudauri engineering college, in Pauri, Chamoli, Rudraprayag and in several districts of Kumaon division.
Just today a leopard collided with a bike in Khutani, near Bhimtal. The rider managed to escape by entering a shop.
Leopards are frequently entering residential areas.
Many innocent people have lost their lives maximum being children, women and senior citizens, and this incident on the road has spread further terror. The video is going viral.
