Rahul gets heroic welcome in Parliament after his Lok Sabha membership is restored

The former Congressman chief Rahul Gandhi acknowledged a heroic welcome in Parliament where he paid obeisance to father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi bowing to his statue and also paying tributes to DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi and meeting several veteran leaders in the central Hall including Sharad Pawar and leaders of INDIA BLOC.

THE TUMULTUOUS welcome received by Rahul Gandhi by his party MPs and MPs of INDIA block was unique like a healthy and prosperous home coming, despite the hard fact that the ruling political dispensation had tried its best to keep the for Congress chief devoid of his Lok Sabha membership apprehensive of his roaring attacks in Parliament, especially on the ongoing no confidence motion on which he is to speak on 8/ 9 August.

Even the media men curiously gathered there to take his pictures and have a word with Rahul Gandhi looked jubilant as expressed by the latter.

Rahul Gandhi had on 8 August attended parliament after more than four months absence from the house because of his disqualification from Lok Sabha membership.

It was the same day on which the contentious Delhi Services Bill was passed in the upper house after being passed from Lok Sabha on 7 August after tremendous debate and home minister Amit Shah speaking on it at full length.

The chief minister of Delhi and AAP’s national convenor Arvind Kejrival termed the day as the Black Day “In The History of Indian Democracy”.

Addressing a press conference Arvind Kejrival stated that the Prime minister had willingly ignored the orders of Supreme Court, which held that India is a democratic country and voters elect government so that they can exercise their discretionary powers on their half.

The Lok Sabha membership of former Congressman president Rahul Gandhi has been restored on August 7 after the Supreme Court stayed his conviction of two years sentence by the lower Court of Gujarat and upheld by high court in a criminal defamation case filed against the Gandhi family scion by former Gujarat minister and MLA Purnesh Modi.

After this stay he was reinstated to Lok Sabha by a notification which concludes saying : In view of the order of Supreme Court dated 4.8.2023 the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi notified vide Gazette Notification No. 21/(43) /2023 /TO ( B) dated 24 th March 2023 in terms of the provisions of Article 102(1) (e) of the Constitution of India read with Section ( 8 ) of the Representation of People Act , 1951 has ceased to operate subject to further judicial pronouncements.

The Congress leader Rahul Gandhi attended parliament today with a renewed confidence, energy and enthusiasm after being disqualified from his Waynad Lok Sabha membership 136 days before.

There had been tremendous celebrations outside the 10 Janpath and 24 Akbar Road after the Supreme Court and finally the Lok Sabha speaker through a notification revoked Rahul’s disqualification of Waynad Lok Sabha membership.

Rahul Gandhi was sentenced for years sentence on the case filed by a BJP politician of Gujarat Purnesh Modi who accused him of using derogatory and erroneous remarks in his public meeting in 2019 terming as Modi Surname as thieves by lower n Gujarat high courts finally turned down by Supreme Court staying it through an order in March 4 th, 2023.

The Congress president Mallikarjun Khadge in a tweet while welcoming the decision of restoration of Rahul Gandhi’s Lok Sabha membership wrote : The decision to reinstate Sh. Rahul Gandhi as an MP is a welcome step. It brings relief to the people of India, and especially to Wayanad. Whatever time is left of their tenure, BJP and Modi Govt. should utilise that by concentrating on actual governance rather than denigrating Democracy by targeting opposition leaders tweeted Khadge.
