Highest since 1951, 64.7% polling in Bihar’s first phase voting

Despite several complaints of missing of the names of the genuine voters from the voters list in majority of the constituencies and  the alive electorates declared dead  and number of other complaints of EVMs going faulty in several constituencies the first round of voting in 121 MLA areas have been held with a record polling of  64.7% , the state’s highest ever voter turnout in eighteen districts of Bihar. There are in all 243 assembly seats in Bihar and elections to 121 constituencies are held yesterday on Development verses Change  battle primarily between NDA and the TJD, Congress, Left parties with Prashant Kishore’s outfit being a third contestant. The controversial  issue of SIR remained dominated in yesterday’s election with majority of the news men and youths tubers visiting various constituencies and highlighting the issue of missing names in the voters list and in some constituencies even the administrations officials n policemen allegedly helping the ruling party candidates . In majority of the constituencies the women and men voters of RJD were seen vociferously complaining about their names having been missing though they had voted in earlier all the elections accusing the election commission for deleting their names intentionally. They also complained that the election officers didn’t turned up to their residences to get the SIR forms filled. Even those who had filled the firms of SIR had complained of their names being deleted from the voters list and being declared dead. Om the other hand there were also complaints of several names of the dead persons appearing in voters list as electorates.  Yesterday’s polling percentage of 64.7% is the highest compared to the 1998 lok Sabha polls with 64.6 % polling outcome. According to the latest news though majority of the Satta Bazaars a d political analysts were giving edge to the NDA indicating Nitish Kumar repeating , yesterday’s polling and the tremendous crowds at JDU leader Yadav’s meetings have unambiguously revealed that the youths of the state and general public want a change and jobs indicating that the employment issue of the JDU leader giving job to one member of every family has clicked tremendously. Meanwhile the chief election commissioner Gyanesh Kumar who is being allegedly labelled as the stooge of the saffron party and NDA has congratulated the electorates of Bihar for doing record voting  thus thanking them for their trust in the election commission. Bihar has exhibited  the way to the nation through Special Intensive Revision  with zero appeals the highest voter turnout since 1951, enthusiastic participation of electors, and a transparent and
dedicated election machinery. It has been an
amazing journey for ECI.” It may be recalled that during the first phase of voting in Bihar’s 131 constituencies in 18 districts out if total 243 with 122 women candidates the Election Commission had earlier said this as mother of all elections. Though there were hundreds of complaints and inadequacies during yesterday’s election with scores of people complaining of their names being deleted and dead persons names appearing in voters list including EVMs going faulty in several constituencies with RJD supporters doubting, the Bihar’s  ,chief election officers Vinod Kumar Gunjiyal declaring that the polling in 121 constituencies were peaceful with no hiccups and hassles. Political analysts say that this trend reveals that despite faulty SIR and several manipulations the highest turnout usually is indicative of the change.
