During the ongoing construction work on Satpuli Gumkhal Satpuli Highway in Pauri district, a JCB machine operator died after the machine fell into a ditch near Kulhad Band.
Station House Officer Satpuli Anil Chauhan said that on Monday afternoon at around 3 pm, information was received that a JCB had met with an accident near Kulhad Band and had fallen into a ditch about 120 meters deep.
Baburam Sharma, son of Balveer Prasad Sharma, 57, a resident of Kashiram, Kotdwar, died on the spot. Upon receiving information, a police team and an SDRF team arrived at the scene, where the body was rescued. Further proceedings are underway after the body has been rescued and a panchnama has been prepared.
