CHIEF MINISTER REACH TUNNEL SITE. EVERYONE SAFE TILL NOW. RESCUE OPERATION STILL ON. 40 TRAPPED INSIDE THE TUNNEL AT Silkyara, UTTARKASHI

The relief and safety operation for the forty employees who had been stucked inside the Silkyara tunnel in Uttarkashi after the portion of the tunnel under construction fell down yesterday is still going on in full swing. The satisfying report is that despite the rescue operation taking time, among the employees stuck inside the tunnel, no one has been harmed physically.

According to the latest reports the dedicated and fully trained rescue team personnel of NDRF and SDRF are still busy in their rescue operations with chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also reaching the tunnel site where the incident happened.

Several senior officers including the district magistrate of Uttarkashi accompanied him. The CM said prime minister Narendra Modi has also offered every possible support and cooperation. The chief minister in a message on social media platform wrote :

Reached Silkyara, Uttarkashi and inspected the accident site and reviewed the relief and rescue operations conducted. Respected Prime Minister Shri@narendramodi ji has also assured all possible assistance from the Central Government. SDRF, NDRF and state administration teams are engaged in relief and rescue operations with full force, it will be completed soon. In this difficult time, we are in touch with the families of the workers trapped in the tunnel and stand strongly with them.

It may be recalled that a tunnel portion ahead from it’s starting point broke and fell down as a result of which the tunnel’s way has been blocked with forty employees working there got stucked inside, though safe till now.

The NDRF and SDRF including the local police were immediately asked to reach the spot who are still busy trying to retrieve the trapped employees. The oxygen cylinders etc have also be dispatched at the site to help them in case they suffer from suffocation etc.

However there are reports that some holes and spaces exist at the site resulting in oxygen supply etc reaching satisfactorily to those stuck in side the tunnel.

The rescue operations at the tunnel which was being built to connect Silkyara and Daandalgaon in Uttarkashi districed started on Sunday.

Apart from the NDRF, SDRF rescue teams the operation is using the services of two JCBs amd Plain machines to remove the debris of the fallen portion of the tunnel. The tunnel is 13 metres wide and the rescue teams are trying to create a 60 metres escape route for the trapped 40 workers , right now busy on it. The situation seems to be under control with oxygen being supplied through pipes by the Rescue personnel.
