India’s Ankush Panghal and Priti Pawar win two golds in Boxing at Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow

Glasgow, Scotland: Indian boxers continued their impressive run at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow, adding more medals to the country’s tally.

Ankush Panghal extended India’s medal haul with a gold in the men’s 80kg category. In the final bout, Ankush put up a commanding performance against England’s Dimeji Shittu and won by a 4-1 split decision to claim the gold medal for himself and for the country.

With this victory, Ankush Panghal secured India another gold at CWG 2026, underlining the strong form of the Indian boxing contingent in Scotland.

Haryana’s Priti Pawar clinched the gold medal in women’s boxing, taking India’s gold count to six.

Pawar, competing in the 54kg category, delivered a dominant performance in the final to secure the top podium finish for India in boxing. With her aggressive attack and strong defensive work, the young boxer from Haryana outclassed her opponent and added a historic gold to India’s campaign.

The 54 kg gold marks another milestone for Indian boxing at the Games and continues the strong tradition of Haryana producing champions on the international stage. Pawar’s victory was cheered across the country, with fans and officials hailing her composure and fighting spirit in Glasgow.

The win also underlines India’s growing depth in women’s boxing. Earlier in the tournament, Indian boxers had already put up strong performances, and Pawar’s gold capped it with a statement finish.

With this result, India’s tally of gold medals at CWG 2026 reached six, further strengthening its position on the medals table. The Indian contingent and the boxing federation congratulated Priti Pawar, calling her triumph an inspiration for young athletes back home.
