YOUTH CONGRESS ACTIVISTS DETAINED for protesting against “Pegasus” surveillance

New Delhi, 20 July 2021:

The Indian Youth Congress activists led by its national president Srinivas BV today protested against spying of journalists, opposition leaders, government ministers, and Supreme Court judges by Israeli software Pegasus.

Addressing the protestors in New Delhi the the Youth Congress chief said that today both the Constitution and the law are being murdered by the present government as democracy is being trampled under its feet.

The fundamental rights of the citizens of the country are being suppressed! The Modi government has allegedly played with national security charged IYC president Sriniwas BV accusing it for spying on the opposition leaders of the country including Rahul Gandhi, journalists of different media organisations and people holding constitutional positions. The name of Bharatiya Janata Party should be changed to #Bharatiya Jasoos Party he added following his leader Rahul Gandhi’s tweet posted on his twitter handle yesterday. He also said that the NSO itself has unambiguously accepted that Israel based “Pegasus” has been allegedly used used by several government to fight extremism. Whereas in reality Pegasus is being used against the opponents of Modi ji added the national IYC chief while addressing the Youth Congress activists at it national headquarter in New Delhi.

The National President of Youth Congress, Srinivas BV, while seeking an answer from Prime Minister Modi, asked that Modi ji, what crime and terror were you fighting by spying on Rahul Gandhi’s phone? Which terrorist were you fighting by spying on journalists? Which militant were you fighting by spying on the Chief Election Commissioner? According to the press release the national president IYC Srinivas BV also said that news reports are saying that not only journalists, leaders of opposition and own ministers, but the heads of the security agencies of the country who protect us, the borders of the country are also being allegedly spied upon. He said that this has resulted in hurting the image of the country at the international level. He demanded speedy investigation in this spying case at the earliest by the JPC or under the supervision of the Supreme Court.

Scores of Youth Congress workers were detained by Delhi Police and taken to Mandir Marg Police Station finally releasing them after some time.

Youth Congress National General Secretary and Delhi In-charge Bhaiya Pawar, National Secretary and Delhi Co-Incharge Khushboo Sharma, Bunty Shelke, Deepak Chotiwala, Manju Bharat Tongad, Mukesh Kumar, Shivi Chauhan, Milind Gautam, Vineet Kamboj, Delhi Youth Congress state president Ranvijay Singh Lochav and many Youth Congress workers were present in the protest said the IYC press release.
