PM Modi condoles the sad demise of Queen Elizabeth II saying she showed him the handkerchief presented to her by Gandhiji on her wedding
Queen Elizabeth II, the longest ever monarch of Britain, United Kingdom today peacefully breathed her last at Balmoral castle in Scotland sending shock waves all around. She died at the age of 96. Hus husband Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh died at the age on 99 in 1921. Queen Elizabeth was running abnormal health since October. She is the largest serving monarch in the world having been sworn in as the Queen of Britain in the year 1952 after the demise of her father King George VI who acceded to the throne in 1936. Condolence messages are pouring in from entire world from top dignitaries viz US President Joe Biden, President of India Draupadi Murmu, Britain PM Liz, Truss, Canadian Prime minister Mr. Trudeau, the Indian prime minister Narendra Modi etc. The President Draupadi Murmu while expressing her tributes on the death of Queen Elizabeth II tweeted : In the denise of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of UK, the world has lost a great personality. An era has passed since she steered her country and people for over 7 decades. I share the grief of people of UK and convey my heartfelt condolence to the family.
Prime minister Narendra Modi while expressing his deepest condolences on the sad demise of Queen Elizabeth tweeted : Her majesty Queen Elizabeth II will be remembered as a stalwart of our times. She provided the inspiring leadership to her nation and people. She personified dignity and decency in public life. Pained by her demise. My thoughts are with her family and people of UK in this sad hour. In another tweet the PM while also posting his pictures with her when he visited England n met her, prime minister described his meeting with her as : I had memorable meetings with her Majesty Queen Elizabeth during my UK visits in 2015 n 2018. I will never forget the warmth and kindness further meeting that during one of her meetings she showed a handkerchief gifted by Mahatma Gandhi on her wedding. I always cherished that gesture tweeted PM Modi.
The Royal Family in their tweet informed the world about the largest serving monarch Queen Elizabeth’s sad demise through a tweet mentioning : The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London. Meanwhile Prince Charles the elder son of the Queen has been made the next King of United Kingdom, as the constitutional figure head. ‘King Charles III’ announced as New Title, with HRH Princess Camilla the Duchess of Cornwall, as the ‘Queen Consort’. His Majesty The King has released a statement … “It’s the saddest moment for me …”
Thousands of people have gathered at Buckingham palace in England placing their bouquets as mark of respects n tributes outside the palace where the queen’s body will be brought from Balmoral. The coffin of the Queen will be placed at Westminster Hall for three days in London and the United Kingdom will mourning for ten days with various programmes in memory of the Queen to take place. The king of Jordan has declared seven days mourning as a mark of tributes to Queen Elizabeth II. Kindly recall that Queen Elizabeth gave pledge to 15 prime ministers and when she took over as the Queen of United Kingdom Winston Churchill was the PM and just two days ago before her death she gave pledge to the 47 year old new PM Liz Truss at Balmoral castle in Scotland as she wasn’t able to return to Buckingham palace due to her abnormal health.
