Forest department nabs a culprit to put a forest on fire at Rudraprayag through drone surveillance

The fires in Uttarakhand especially during the summers have created havoc destroying our flora and fauna and surging the temperature of the Himalayan stares with glaciers rapidly melting and jungles losing their ecological credibility with the reptiles , animals , carnivores and vegetation vanishing compelling the wild carnivores move to human habitats and make human beings their easy prey.

These forest fires are the biggest enemy of our ecology and environment including flora and fauna and Uttarakhand jungles have been frequently burning.
The forest departments drone exercise however have proved to be successful in nabbing the culprits who deliberately put these jungles in fire clandestinely for the reasons best known to them.
According to a latest news amidst the continuously increasing incidents of forest fire in the district, the Forest Department has taken a major action through drone surveillance and arrested an accused of setting fire to the forest. The case is of Taila compartment number-07 of Jakholi range, where a person was captured on drone camera while setting fire to the forest area.
According to the information received from the Forest Department, on the evening of 20 May 2026 at around 7:15 pm, forest fire was being monitored through drone.
During this time, a person was seen setting fire to the forest in Taila area under Jakholi range.
Upon receiving the information, the Forest Inspector of the Barma Section and the Beat Officer of Taila immediately arrived at the scene and attempted to apprehend the accused, but the accused took advantage of the darkness and night and escaped from the scene.
Following the incident, the Forest Department team searched for the accused throughout the night, but were unsuccessful. The next day, on May 21st, the Section Officer and Beat Officer again inspected the scene and questioned local villagers.
During investigation, it was found that the person who set the fire was a resident of village and post Pandrola Kumri, tehsil Jakholi, district Rudraprayag.
