First State election committee meeting of Congress held in Dehradun in the presence of CSC chairman Bhakt Charan Dass

The chairman of the Congress Screening Committee of Uttarakhand Bhakt Charan Dass was in Dehradun today where he held meeting with all the prominent state leaders including aspirants for parliamentary tickets for five Lok Sabha seats from Garhwal and Kumaon divisions.

The Congress high command has started the meeting of Pradesh Election Committee at Dehradun today in the presence of the Uttarakhand Screening Committee chief Bhakt Charan Dass who said that applications of the prospective contenders have been invited from the various areas of the state after being properly scrutinised and recommended by the block and district organisation. The Screening Committee will thereafter scrutinise all the applications and after shortlisting the names bringing them down to at least three from each constituency, the names of prospective candidates will be sent to the Central Election Committee for final approval and singling out the name on exclusively merit basis.

However these parameters are just for namesake and the state heavyweights backed by the central leaders usually have their say in bagging the tickets and some even dropped via parachute.

The former chief minister of Uttarakhand Harish Rawat who is himself a contender from Haridwar parliamentary constituency while speaking to the media said that it’s good that the Pradesh Election Committee has met today in the pivotal presence of the chairman of the state Election Screening Committee chairman Bhakt Charan Dass.

The Screening committee will speak to all the leaders and aspirants and finally come to a conclusion about the final contenders, democratically said Rawat

Those present in the meeting broadly were Bhakt Charan Dass, state Congress chief Karan Mahra, former chief minister Harish Rawat, former speaker Govind Kunjwal, former Congress chief of Ukhand Ganesh Godiyal, Pritam Singh, former president, leader of the opposition Yashpal Arya, former MP Pradeep Tamata, Ranjit Singh, former minister Shurvir Singh Sajwan, etc.

Presently the BJP has MPs from all the five constituencies and after the construction of RAM temple and subsequent concentration of Lord Rama’s statue inside the temple there is literally a hidden wave of Hinduism in entire Uttarakhand. The faction ridden Congress therefore has more challenges to cope with the situation in view of the fast nearing elections which are likely to be declared within a fortnight.

There will be lot of contenders on every seat of Congress reveal sources.

As far as the BJP is concerned there are reports that several tickets of sitting MPs will be cut in view of the anti incumbency factor , the formula applied in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh by the saffron party high command, where not only several sitting MPs were made MLAs but also reduced to non entity.

This formula really worked and the BJP won in four states out of total five though the Congress and INDIA block parties have been blaming the ruling political dispensation that EVM voting machines having been allegedly been manipulated etc.
