CBI moves court to take voice samples of Harish Rawat, Dr. Harak Singh and two MLAs in the 2016 sting operation case !

Once the premier investigation agency files a case against anyone, it become extremely difficult to come out of its entanglement as keeping in view the overloading of CBI with hundreds of cases though late but it ensures that each and every case is dealt with strictly.

Similarly, the case of 2016 pertaining to a sting operation against the then CM Harish Rawat by Umesh Kumar, now assembly lawmaker from Khanpur, Roorkie Uttarakhand has once again come to light raising its head after a long time when the CBI approached the Uttarakhand High Court filing an application for granting them permission to take the voice samples of Dwarhat MLA , Roorkie, Khanpur MLA – Madan Singh Bisht, Umesh Kumar, Harish Rawat, former CM and former Uttarakhand minister Harak Singh Rawat.

Kindly recall that in the year 2016 when Harish Rawat was Uttarakhand CM, a sting operation was conducted at Jolly grant airport by Umesh Kumar, now MLA but then the owner of Samachar Plus with regard to alleged horse trading of MLAs etc by Rawat when the Congress government was in doldrums with several MLAs having posed risk to his government by changing sides.

In the sting operation it showed the conversation regarding alleged buying of some MLAs in several crores of rupees though nothing changed hands practically.

This sting was tremendously highlighted by the media, print and electronics – making things very difficult for Rawat.

Similarly in another sting operation allegedly involving Dr. Harak Singh Rawat and MLA Madan Bisht on the same issue raising lot of hue and cry was conducted.

Finally cases were registered by CBI and Rawat had to go there for questioning by CBI sleuths.

However, the case got delayed thereafter raising its head now.

According to latest news – on 20 th January special CBI judge Mr. Dharmendra Singh Adhikari had heard the case in his court after an appeal was filed by the prosecution officer Siya Ram Meena and CBI inspector Sushil Kumar Verma requesting the court to grant CBI the permission to take the voice samples of Harish Rawat, Dr. Harak Singh Rawat, MLAs Umesh Kumar and Madan Singh Bisht. While pleading for permission the CBI has brought to the notice of the court that it had issued notice to these persons of 8 th June but they have not complied to the notices of CBI, hence the court should grant them permission to do the needful.

The next date for the hearing in this regard had been fixed for 8 th July.

In 2016 when Harish Rawat’s government was destabilized after eleven of his MLAs had changed sides joining BJP, two sting operations were conducted, one by Umesh Kumar, then journalist and another involving Dr. Harak Singh Rawat and Madan Bisht, MLA related to alleged horse trading ( buying of MLAs). This happened for the very first time in the history of Uttarakhand politics which had then literally shook the Congress government finally Rawat being dethroned from power.
