Today is 8 th March, the International Women’s Day which is celebrated all over the world with tremendous fan fare.
This day is marked as a respect to the women community of the globe to recognise their hard work, relentless struggles, dedication , commitment, perseverance and the sacrifice they’ve made in all fields of life may be in defence forces, as a fighter, sportswomen, astronauts, as lawyers, judges, social activists, politicians, artists, actors, writers , daring journalists so on and so forth bringing them equivalent to the men and even ahead of them.
There are hundreds of such examples of outstanding women performing excellently and exceptionally in various fields across spectrum, though there are also women who are being oppressed, suppressed and tortured in this 21 st centuary still struggling
hard to come out of the prevalent dominant patriarchy.
While the ruling political dispensations and its various wings celebrate International Women’s day spending exorbitantly, the government budget to celebrate this day bringing forth on the stage the women of the elite class in the developing nations, including India which has progressed by leaps and bounds in all fields of life competing with the superpowers, women in our rural sector, which is the real India, are still reeling under supression, oppression and poverty struggling hard to come out of the traditional shackles to see the light of the day.

There are hundreds of examples of women being raped, girl child being made to die before taking birth and innocent girls being killed brutally after being raped obnoxiously as in the cases of the Nirbhaya of running bus in Vasant Vihar in 2012, the Nirbhaya of Najafgarh Kiran Negi and Ankita Bhandari of Uttarakhand etc.
The recent issue of Apstein files which gained worldwide attention has made everyone to hang their heads in shame where top politicians etc were openly exposed for their ugly deeds with none other than the underaged , adolescent girls.
If such shameful and obnoxious acts happen in the countries who claim to be the superpowers and the politicians of these nations are exposed to the hilt for their outrageous sexual acts than what is the relevance of celebrating the International Women’s Day globally.
However, in Delhi and elsewhere when several organisations are celebrating International Women’s Day in theatres and big venues spending tremendously sounding to be vulgar ostentation there are still some political parties who are celebrating International Women’s Day on the streets of Delhi ( Jantar Mantar) with placards in their hands asking relevant questions highlighting the shameful acts like Apstein files, the patriarchic domination over women, the increasing rapes of women and girls, trafficking of the girl child and children, safety of women and non fulfilment of the genuine women rights etc.
According to the NATIONAL FEDERATION OF INDIAN WOMEN, DELHI STATE International Women’s Day in the national capital was celebrated with much fanfare though on the streets.
It was organised by different women organisations including NFIW Delhi State.
The National President NFIW Dr. Sayyeda Hamid addressed the women’s gathering which was led by Alka Srivastava Secretary NFIW Delhi State, Sharda Devi, Sheela, Rehana Khatun, Archana,Sajda Begum, Pushpa and Deepti etc.
On this hectic ocassion revolutionary songs etc were sung by the enthusiastic wimen activists. In addition to the women leaders and activists the male leaders were also present notably Prof, Dinesh Varshney Secretary CPI Delhi State and National Executive Member CPI and Shankarlal, Secretariat member CPI Delhi State etc
