The Aam Admi Party and its national convenor Arvind Kejrival suffered a huge blow when the latter’s one time blue eyed boy, the chartered accountant turned politician and RS, MP Raghav Chadha and six other MPs of the upper house left him in disarray and joined the saffron party, BJP, against whom they have been spitting venom since the last decade.
It may be recalled that after the Rajya Sabha former deputy leader Raghav Chadha was removed from the post and letter written to the chairman RS that he should be devoid of the deputy leadership of AAP in Rajya Sabha and shouldn’t be allocated time to speak, Raghav Chadha felt extremely insulted and betrayed.
Since then there were speculations that he may join BJP though before joining the saffron party Raghav Chadha has met the senior Congress leader Pawan Khera and his pictures were published in social media with Sonia, Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi, giving an jnkling that he is joing the Congress.
What prompted the former AAP leader Raghav Chadha join BJP alongwith six MPs of Rajya Sabha is his constant insult and defamation by all the AAP leaders one by one in social media branding him as the agent of BJP likely to join it.
After joining the BJP addressing the press conference with two other RS MP Sandeep Pathak and Ashok Mittal Raghav Chadha said :
Today, exercising the provisions of the Constitution of India, more than two-thirds of the AAP MPs in the Rajya Sabha have merged with the BJP.
Seven MPs have signed the document, which was submitted to the Hon’ble Chairman of the Rajya Sabha.
I, along with two other MPs, personally handed over the signed documents said Raghav Chadha .
He accused the AAP leadership of deviating from its principles, morals and core values of the party which was nurtired by him by sweat and blood during the last fifteen years of my youth. He catagorically said that now AAP does not work in the interest of the nation but for its personal benefits and vested interests…For the past few years, I could feel that I am the right man in the wrong party.
So, today, we announce that I am distancing myself from the AAP and getting close to public.” said Raghav Chadha after joining the BJP.
The six MPs of AAP in Rajya Sabha who’ve joined BJP are : Harbhajan Singh bowler, cricketer, Sandeep Pathak, Ashok Mittal, Rajinder Gupta, Vikram Sahney and Swati Maliwal.

Now the AAP strength in the upper house will be only three MPs with Sanjay Singh as its viciferous leader and the BJP’s strength increasedcto 113 from 106 earlier going close to majority in the upper house.
It may be recalled that after Raghav Chadha becoming a rebel in AAP after his post deputy leader was snatched from him the ED raided the house of then AAP MP Ashok Mittal. Today he is one of the MPs being welcomed by the BJP president Nitin Nimesh with a bouquet and vice e versa.
Sanjay Singh said while giving his reaction on this development said : I will write a letter to the chairman of the Rajya Sabha demanding declaring Raghav Chadha, Ashok Mittal and Sandeep Pathak as constitutionally disqualified from their Rajya Sabha membership because this amounts to leaving the party voluntarily and joining BJP thus contravening the provisions of tenth schedule of the constitution.
