Swachhotsav Campaign” successfully conducted in more than two dozen schools by SDC Foundation!

Dehradun, 1 October 2025**
On the occasion of the Swachhta Pakhwada being observed from 17 September to 2 October under the Government of India’s *Swachh Bharat Mission*, Dehradun-based SDC Foundation, in collaboration with 25 schools of the district, successfully conducted the “Swachhata Hi Seva – Swachhotsav Campaign.” The objective of this campaign was to raise awareness among students and the school community about cleanliness, sustainability, and creating a plastic waste-free environment.
As part of the campaign, schools organized activities such as a collective cleanliness pledge, drawing and essay competitions, short video making on cleanliness, and plastic waste collection drives.
In particular, on 27 September, several schools held awareness programs on cleanliness and plastic waste management, in which students participated enthusiastically. During these programs, schools collectively collected around 160 kilograms of plastic waste.
This plastic waste was taken by SDC Foundation to its segregation center located at Mehuwala, where it will be further segregated and further sent for recycling in an environmentally friendly manner.
The schools that actively participated in this campaign included Bhawani Balika Inter College, Sanatan Dharma Jhandaji, Sanatan Dharm Moti Bazar, Mahavir Jain Inter College, SSS Junior High School, Sophia High School, Government Primary School Meethiberry, SGN Doon Well School, SGRR Race Course, Harbans Kapoor Balika Inter College (Kaulagarh), Government Primary School Kaulagarh, Mangla Devi Inter College, Government Primary School Tuntowala, Government Inter College Mehuwala, Government Upper Primary School Harbhajwala, Government Primary School Khudbura, Ambavati Doon Valley Inter College, SGRR Middle Branch (Vasant Vihar), Sangam Public School, Government Girls’ Inter College Rajpur Road, Government Girls’ Upper Primary School Khudbura, Government Inter College Khudbura, Government Primary School Khudbura, New M.D. Public School, and Government Girls’ Upper Primary School Sewlakalan.

Dinesh Semwal stated that such school-level campaigns bring positive behavioral changes among students, which will have a lasting impact. He said that if the cleanliness movement is strengthened at the school level, it will certainly make the Swachh Bharat Mission even stronger.
Pyare Lal from the foundation, shared that school studnets participated with great enthusiasm in the competitions organized to spread awareness on cleanliness and plastic control, and their creativity was deeply appreciated. Praveen Upreti of SDC Foundation said that this campaign will continue to move forward so that in the coming time, Dehradun can be counted among the cities successfully controlling single-use plastic.
On this occasion, Bittu, Subhash, Laxmi Prasad, and Pramod from SDC Foundation also contributed wholeheartedly to make the programs successful.
