Khansyun police station SI Naresh Kumar said that Champa Devi (25), wife of Dinesh Pokhariya, was cutting fodder for cattle in the forest yesterday afternoon.
The SI said that the team of doctors conducted the post-mortem on the spot and handed over the body to the family.
The villagers said that Champa was made the Sarpanch of the village due to her behaviour.
The deceased has two young sons.
