However, he assured the petitioner lawyer that he will definitely look into this sending a new ray of hope.

It may be recalled that the controversy regarding the removal of stray dogs after the Supreme Court order given by the two judge bench comprising of Justice J.B.Padrivala and Justice Mahadevan has created quite a controversy with hundreds of dog lovers protesting in social media and even at India Gate urging to take back the said orders.

Even Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, both MPs also came to their rescue publicly.

Reacting after the Supreme Court verdict Rahul Gandhi reacted saying that The SC’s directive to remove all stray dogs from Delhi-NCR is a step back from decades of humane, science-backed policy.

These voiceless souls are not “problems” to be erased.
Shelters, sterilisation, vaccination & community care can keep streets safe – without cruelty.

Blanket removals are cruel, shortsighted, and strip us of compassion.

We can ensure public safety and animal welfare go hand in hand said Rahul on X. On the other hand Congress MP and general secretary Priyanka Gandhi said : The moving of all the city’s stray dogs to shelters within a matter of weeks is going to result in horrendously inhumane treatment of them. Enough shelters do not even exist to take them on.

As it is animals in urban surroundings are subjected to ill treatment and brutality. Surely there is a better way to manage the situation and a humane way can be found in which these innocent animals are looked after and kept safe as well.

Dogs are the most beautiful, gentle creatures, they do not deserve this kind of cruelty.

The animal activist and former union minister Maneka Gandhi too oppose this decision coming out in support of the NGOs protecting animals and dogs.

Several animal and dogs rescue and protection organisations cumulatively including PETA came in support of stray dogs vigorously holding protest demonstrations and writing tremendously in Social media.

Former Union minister and animal rights activist Maneka Gandhi criticised the order calling it “impractical”, “financially unviable” and “potentially harmful” to the ecological balance of Delhi and NCR.
