The 14 th Prime minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh has breathed his last at AIIMS at 9.51 PM after he was admitted at 8.06 PM in ICU after he suffered immense difficulty to breath already suffering from age related ailments. He was 91 year old. The information about the sad demise of Dr.Manmohan Singh was given by Robert Vadra on his social media handle X. Dr. Singh’s wife and his daughter are with late Dr. Singh at AIIMS. The union health minister J.P.Nadda is believed to have reached there. The former Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, LOP Rahul Gandhi , Priyanka Gandhi and other senior leaders are likely to reach there. The news of Dr. Manmohan Singh has sent shock waves in the entire country. On learning about the death of former PM Dr. Manmohan Singh , president of India Draupadi Murmu while expressing her grief wrote on X : Former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh Ji was one of those rare politicians who also straddled the worlds of academia and administration with equal ease. In his various roles in public offices, he made critical contributions to reforming Indian economy. He will always be remembered for his service to the nation, his unblemished political life and his utmost humility. His passing is a great loss to all of us. I pay my respectful homage to one of the greatest sons of Bharat and convey my heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and admirers said President Draupadi Murmu through her condolences message on X.

The Prime minister Narendra Modi has expressed his deepest condolences and shock on the unfortunate Demise of Dr.Manmohan Singh. He also spoke to the bereaved family over phone. The PM on his social media handle X wrote : India mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished leader, Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji. Rising from humble origins, he rose to become a respected economist. He served in various government positions as well, including as Finance Minister, leaving a strong imprint on our economic policy over the years. His interventions in Parliament were also insightful. As our Prime Minister, he made extensive efforts to improve people’s lives. He added : Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji and I interacted regularly when he was PM and I was the CM of Gujarat. We would have extensive deliberations on various subjects relating to governance. His wisdom and humility were always visible. The senior officers of Delhi police , Director AIIMS and other senior officers reached AIIMS. The Wayanad MP and general secretary of Congress Priyanka Gandhi has reached AIIMS and is with late Dr.Singh’s wife. There is no official confirmation from AIIMS about the death of Dr.Manmohan Singh. The Congress leaders and even Robert Vadra have withdrawn their tweets.
Defence minister Rajnath Singh said that Dr.Manmohan Singh will always be remembered for his distinguished contribution for the nation’s progress and prosperity writing on X : Deeply saddened by the demise of India’s former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh ji. He played a key role in rebuilding India’s economy during difficult times. He was widely respected for his service and intellect. His contribution to India’s progress will always be remembered. The union home minister Amit Shah has also reached AIIMS and tweeted on X : The news of the demise of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh is extremely sad. From being the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India to the Finance Minister of the country and as the Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh played an important role in the governance of the country. I express my condolences to his family and supporters in this hour of grief. May Waheguru grant peace to his soul and give strength to his family to bear this grief.
Dr. Manmohan Singh was the most distinguished leader, blotless, transparent, people centric , the brilliant economist , former governor of Reserve Bank of India, former finance minister and former prime minister from 2004 to 2014, . If was during his able leadership as the finance minister that Indian economy was liberalised and a new financial revolution took place opening the Indian market to the world economy. He is considered as one of the most capable and efficient prime minister who ruled the nation most efficiently for ten long years. His leaving for eternal journey is a great loss for the country and the vacuum he left behind with be extremely difficult to be filled. He will always be remembered for revolutionary economic reforms and liberalisation ending the License Raj. He qualified his post graduation in economics from Oxford university UK in 1962 and served as a distinguished Finance minister from 1991 to 1996 and then as a most efficient and outstanding prime minister from 2004 to 2014 for a decade giving new direction to India’s economic policies taking our country to new heights of all round progress and prosperity. In true sense he was a towering personality, a symbol of tolerance, transparency, impeccable integrity, wisdom and above all softness. He was a true statesman.

His policy of Economic Liberalisation and Rights-based welfare paradigm profoundly transformed the lives of crores of Indians, virtually creating a Middle Class in India and lifting crores out of poverty. I mourn the loss of a lifelong senior colleague, a gentle intellectual and a humble soul who embodied the aspirations of India, having risen through the ranks with unwavering dedication. I am proud to have been a part of his Cabinet as Labour Minister, Railway Minister and Social Welfare Minister. A man of action rather than words, his immense contribution to nation-building will forever be etched in the annals of Indian history. The body of former prime minister will be taken to his official bungalow where tomorrow morning till 9.30 AM the President, prime minister, Vice President and other dignitaries will pay their floral tributes and thereafter he will be taken to 24, Akbar Road , the Congress headquarter to enable Congress leaders and workers to pay their respects. The Congress party has cancelled all its engagements and programmes till 2nd January as a mark of respect to this great and legendary leader and former PM. Tomorrow morning there will be a cabinet meeting of political affairs committee and a decision will be taken for seven days mourning.
