Former Member of parliament from Mumbai, chairman of the anti narcotics cell of AICC, union sports minister, prominent actor late Sunil Duttji was a gem of a person and down to earth human being apart from being a legendary actor, who while not in active politics organised shows to entertain the Indian Army personel serving at our borders. He was credited with organising anti drug addiction camps, workshops and held a padyatra from Mumbai to Amritsar mobilising people against the menace of drugs n illicit liquor consumption, an outstanding feat lauded all around. He tirelessly worked for setting up of a Nargis Dutt cancer Foundation an NGO in 1981 helping the cancer patients. He toured US in 2002 and collected funds worth Rs one lakh dollars in Long Island, 2 lakh dollars in Seattle, and 1 lakh 25000 dollars in Vancouver, Portland Canada . The Bill Gates Foundation donated five lakh dollars for Nargis Cancer Memorial. A 40 bedded cancer hospital was established for cancer patients in Latur n Osmanabad by him. Despite being a Congress politician he dedicated his entire social life for the welfare n well being of the poor, hapless, drug addicts and cancer patients. His contribution to the society is immeasurable. I was privileged to work with him as the member of Anti Narcotics Cell AICC of which he was the chairman. Write extensively on the subject. I haven’t heard any leader across ideological affiliation criticizing him. He was always lauded for his selfless efforts and pro people initiatives. I would like Bollywood personalities earning exorbitantly, imitate legendary actor cum politician Sunil Dutt and contribute for the good of the society, getting inspired from his outstanding good deeds. He did try to ameliorate the dead diction centre is Mahatrshtra. As a sports minister he tried to analyze sports persons problems and ghad genuinely tried to solve these.
