67th Regional Advisory Committee meeting of Regional Directorate Faridabad, Dattopant Thengadi National Board for Workers Education and Development successfully held at Faridabad

67TH Regional Advisory Committee meeting of Regional Directorate Faridabad of Dattopant Thengadi National Board for Workers Education and Development has successfully taken place on 19th of March, 2024 at the Regional Directorate premises.

The meeting was chaired by Ashok Kumar, State President, BMS and participated by the personalities from the employers’ organization, different trade union leadership, representatives from various government departments and academic institutions.

The meeting was conducted by Amitabh Prakash, Regional Director and Ex-officio Secretary to the Regional Advisory Committee.

In his welcome address
Amitabh Prakash, Regional Director and Secretary while explaining the rationale of the meeting said this committee is to oversee, evaluate and offer valuable suggestions for the entire activities and operations of workers education for the benefit of the most marginalized sections of the society.

The annual achievements were also detailed by Aditya Bhattacharya, education officer in the meeting. He also explained the upcoming initiatives of Workers Education including workers’ regular education related activities ‘Recognition of Prior Learning’ and assistance registration to different government schemes etc.

Promod Sachdeva representing ISME, an employers’ organization of Small and Medium Scale industries said that with the advent of new technology especially the AI, the nature of work has undergone drastic change.

The workers being partner of industry should also have an adaptive mindset for the advantage of all the parties.

Rajesh Kumar, PRO, Viswakarma Skill University and member of the Committee said that the university is the first of its kind and always seeks to forge collaboration with the Workers Education for the benefit of the workers. He further assured that there is no scarcity of resources so far as the skilling mission is concerned. He further stressed that a concrete proposal for collaboration and a Memorandum of Understanding should be executed forthwith.
Devi Lal, Secretary BMS and Member to the committee assured his support for all activities of Workers Education.
Virendra Singh Dangwal, Secretary CITU in address underlined the exploitation of workers especially in the unorganized sector. He said the benefits of the social security/welfare schemes do not reach to the last worker as it is so because of the ignorance of the workers and atrocities inflicted by sections of employers. He said that Workers Education have to play its role more effectively for the benefit of the marginalized section of the workers.

Tripti Prasad Sharma, Secretary HMS and Member said that skilling of workers is essential for improving employability. The Workers Education should not forget its role. It should also spread awareness about their rights and the legal and other means to protect them said Sharma.
Shashi Kant,Manager SBI and member said there is an ardent need for awareness of the workers.
.Binod Kr Singh, aka Takiawala, the famous journalist also present in the meeting as a special guest. In his address he assured his support for noble cause of Workers Education.Being there no other business left, the meeting was concluded with the vote of thanks to the Chair.
