500 crore defamation suit filed, notice sent to Aditya Thakrey by Disha Salian’s father
Late Disha Salian’s father Satish Salian has sent a Rs 500 crore defamation notice to Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray and former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh.
The notice seeks Rs 500 crore compensation, an unconditional written public apology, and retraction of statements from Aditya Thakrey whose name has appeared in the charge sheet. The notice gives 7 days to Aditya Thakrey to comply including demanding a 3-minute video apology to be posted on their official social media and published across print/TV/digital media.
According to the latest news the notice mentions that Thackeray and Deshmukh allegedly portrayed Satish Salian’s legal fight for a fresh probe into his daughter’s death as “politically motivated, malicious and actuated by an ulterior object” to damage Thackeray’s reputation.
The notice says : Thackeray claimed that the CBI had already investigated and given him a “clean chit”. That Satish Salian was being “used as a tool to harass” and that Anil Deshmukh on March 23, 2025 had called the whole Disha Salian case a “conspiracy to defame Aaditya Thackeray”.
The notice says these are “false, baseless, reckless and grossly defamatory” accusations which clearly amount to questioning the bona fides of a bereaved father who was merely seeking a lawful investigation into alleged gang rape and murder of his daughter.
Disha Salian, 28, former manager of Sushant Singh Rajput, died on June 8, 2020 after falling from a high-rise in Malad. Mumbai Police filed an ADR. 6 days later Sushant died. Satish Salian initially said no foul play, but later petitioned Bombay High Court for an FIR and fresh probe. Last week CBI registered an FIR in the case, but did not name anyone as accused initially.
Today Thackeray posted on X: “I have never met Disha Salian, nor did I have any acquaintance with her… for the past 6 years some people have been deliberately trying to link my name… despite there being no evidence” wrote Thakrey on X.
