Viral Letter Claims Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan Resigns, Government Yet To Confirm

A letter attributed to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan is being widely shared on social media claiming that he has resigned from his post. In the letter addressed to “My Young Friends”, the person writing as the minister says he has been devoted to students, teachers and education reform for more than four decades and that a strong, inclusive and visionary education system is the foundation of a strong nation. The letter expresses respect for the aspirations of the country’s youth and thanks the Prime Minister for the opportunity to serve the nation under his leadership.
The letter cites irregularities in the NEET-UG examination held on 3rd May 2026 as the reason. It states that the Government of India took immediate cognizance of the issue, handed the investigation to the CBI, cancelled the exam and announced a fresh date. It also mentions a decision to conduct the exam in Computer Based Test mode from the next year. The letter says the main priority was to conduct the examination smoothly for over 20 lakh students through a whole of government approach with the support of the central government, state governments and district administration. It claims that with the cooperation of students, parents and guardians, the exam was successfully conducted on 21st June 2026.
It further states that the NEET-UG results declared on 16th July were satisfactory and that many meritorious students from poor backgrounds were able to succeed. The letter asserts that from the very first day responsibility was taken and the resolve was that the future of no meritorious student would be ruined due to the exam mafia and that no injustice would be done to any student. It adds that during this period some people in responsible positions tried to mislead students, which caused great distress.
As of now there has been no official confirmation from the Ministry of Education or the Prime Minister’s Office regarding the resignation.
It may be noted that the dates mentioned in the letter — 3rd May 2026, 21st June 2026 and 16th July — are future dates and NEET-UG 2026 has not yet been conducted, raising doubts about the authenticity of the letter.
