The former chief minister of Uttarakhand and member of the highest decision making body Congress Working Committee Harish Rawat has termed the recently passed condemnation resolution in the Uttarakhand assembly against the opposition parties for defeating the Women Reservation Bill in Parliament as Utter travesty , the rape of the parliamentary system.
While calling this resolution of BJP passed in Uttarakhand assembly as completely factually baseless resolution Rawat emphatically said that there can be no greater falsehood than this regarding the Wimen Reservation accusing the Congress and India Alliance for rejecting the bill.
Rawat clarified and catagorically said that it was the Congress party and entire INDIA that has voted against the delimitation bill not the Women’s Reservation bill which has already been passed unanimously from both the houses and even notified.
No power can now overturn that bill said Rawat adding further that it is regrettable that a resolution based on false, politically motivated claims was passed in the Assembly. The people of Uttarakhand will not accept this hypocrisy from those in power saud Rawat on X. In a detailed post Rawat write on his X handle under the title : .Utter travesty, the rape of the parliamentary system! He wrote :
In the special session convened in the Uttarakhand Assembly on 28 April, a completely factually baseless resolution was tabled and passed. There can be no greater falsehood than this regarding
women’s reservation: that the Congress and
the INDIA alliance rejected the Women’s
Reservation Bill. The Congress has voted
against the Delimitation Bill.
Our clear stance is: consult the states on the Delimitation Bill, and we will cooperate in passing it.
The Women’s Reservation Bill was passed unanimously in both Houses in 2023; the government may delay its implementation. No power can now overturn that bill. It is regrettable that a resolution based on false, politically motivated claims was passed in the Assembly. The people of Uttarakhand will not accept this hypocrisy from those in power.
Am confident that as soon as Congress
comes to power in 2027, among the first 10
actions it will implement, one will be to annul the aforementioned resolution passed by the Assembly on a foundation of lies said the former Uttarakhand CM Harish Rawat..
