Uttarakhand Devprayag accident: Four bodies identified, search continues for three missing in the Ganges

SDRF's deep diving team conducted a day-long search, a car was also recovered from the river

Devprayag. Following Tuesday’s horrific road accident near Devprayag on the Rishikesh-Badrinath National Highway, the search for three people missing in the Ganges River continues. The SDRF’s deep diving team conducted a day-long search in the Ganges River on Wednesday, but no trace of the missing people has been found.

So far, 4 bodies have been recovered from the accident, which have been identified by the family members, while the Innova car which sank in the river was also taken out with the help of a crane.
Devprayag’s Kotwal Prashant Bahuguna said that the deceased in this accident which took place near Ganga Darshan Hotel have been identified as Dinesh (27) son of Luda Ram, Kamla Devi (62) wife of Luda Ram and Ashlesha (22) daughter of Harish Parihar, residents of Dariyanath ki Bawdi, District Jaisalmer (Rajasthan).

Additionally, the driver, Amit Gupta (32), son of Ajay Gupta, a resident of Laksar, Haridwar, has also been identified.

It is reported that a total of eight people were in the ill-fated Innova car. Following the accident, a child was rescued with serious injuries and taken to the hospital. The bodies of four people have been recovered. Three people are still missing, and the SDRF, police, and other rescue agencies are conducting a joint search operation.

The rapid flow and depth of the Ganges River has made rescue and relief operations challenging. The SDRF’s deep diving team is continuously conducting search operations in potential areas. The administration expresses hope that the missing people will be located soon.
