Tailor Ramesh Ram dies in Sushila Tiwari hospital after being injured with multiple marks on his body. Was in a marriage function

There is a shocking news about a dalit man being lynched to death allegedly in a marriage function of an upper caste in Champawat district giving credence to rumours about the possibility of caste conflict taking place as per the social activist of Kumaon Govind Gopal.

The brutally injured man with injuries on elbow, head, waist and knee was admitted in Sushila Tiwari hospital at Haldwani finally succumbing to injuries despite the doctors endeavouring to save him.

Terming this a most serious and heinous crime, known social and environmental activist of Danya, Kumaon, Govind Gopal while condemning this alleged gruesome murder in a marriage where he was invited said that this is a most gruesome murder of a dalit for his mere fault of taking the food as an invitee but beaten to death by a group of angered people as per the news pouring in. However, the local police is busy in the indepth investigations trying to find out the truth behind this tragedy whether the incident took place inside the marriage function or nearby the vicinity.

He demanded a high level judicial probe into the incident with a request to bring the culprits of this heinous crime to justice at the earliest, including adequate financial compensation to the bereaved poor family.

The deceased has been identified as Ramesh Ram, from Devidhura in Champawat district, having a small tailoring shop for the survival of his family. This is the same district from where young outstanding singer Pawan Rajan has been chosen as the super singer in a Mumbai Singing talent hunt reality Show’s finale.

According to Govind Gopal, Ramesh Ram had hired a small room in a village at Devidhura and was conducting his tailoring business from here arranging sustenance for his poor family.

According to his son as per the news report, Sanjay, his father was invited in a marriage by the owner of the shop Mr. Swamy on 28 th November.

When his father didn’t reached home his son was bothered and he contacted Ramesh Ram on phone. The man on the other side said that he’ll be back the next day being busy in the function.

Next day he got a call about his father in an unconscious position in Lohaghat hospital where he was left by some persons via 108 Ambulance, said his son Sanjay according to Govind Gopal.

His son along with with his acquaintances took him to a Champawat hospital from where his condition being extremely precarious was referred to Haldwani Sushila Tiwari hospital where he died during the treatment. Sanjay disclosed that when his father was in critical condition and being brought from Lohaghat to Champawat hospital his father in acute pain had disclosed about his thrashing by some people when he allegedly attempted to take out food during the function.

There was fighting amongst them and he was badly hurt injuring him severely on elbow, waist, head, knee and other body parts finally succumbing to these severe injuries.

Leaving behind two sons and a daughter deceased Ramesh Ram a petty tailor’s body had been sent for post mortem and the police is awaiting the report to arrive at a definite conclusion said Manoj Arya the police post incharge.

According to Govind Gopal the Bhim Sena activists have intervened in the matter and had also reached the residence of the deceased Ramesh Ram to take up matter seriously with the authorities demanding bringing the culprits to book at the earliest.
