A courageous SDRF operation saved the lives of two young men, rescuing them safely from a 150-meter-deep ravine.

Garhwal, Uttarakhand
Late on the night of June 9, 2026, two young men riding a Bullet motorcycle (UK14TA-5474) lost control and fell into a ravine approximately 150 meters from the road. Upon receiving information about the incident, a team from SDRF Post Srinagar, led by Sub-Inspector Lalit Mohan Bhatt, immediately rushed to the scene with necessary rescue equipment.

Upon reaching the site of the incident, located approximately 5 kilometers east of Devprayag towards Srinagar, the SDRF team, along with the Devprayag police, launched a joint search and rescue operation. Despite the difficult and challenging terrain, SDRF personnel displayed indomitable courage, presence of mind, and professional expertise. They descended into the ditch, reached the two injured, and successfully rescued them alive under difficult circumstances.
Following the rescue, both injured were provided first aid and transported to Base Hospital Srinagar via ambulance. The injured were identified as Piyush Sharma (19 years), son of Jitendra Sharma, and Harsh Kushwaha (22 years), son of Rajkumar Kushwaha, residents of Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh. Both men sustained injuries to their legs and back.
The SDRF’s quick response, excellent teamwork, and trained rescue skills resulted in the safe rescue of both men.
