International shooter , Dronacharya and Padmashri recipient Jaspal Rana dies of cardiac arrest at the age of 49. Entire Uttarakhand and sports fraternity shocked

Though just forty nine years old, the doyen in Shooting chamionships , a senior coach who brought laurels for the country by bagging Golds and Silver in International prestigious competitions especially in Asian and Commonwealth games and his desciple Manu Baker bagging two back to back goals in Olympics, outstanding shooter Jaspal Rana has shaken the entire shooting fraternity and sportsmen countryside after his sad demise due to a severe cardiac arrest.

The outstanding shooting player with global recognition, recipient of prestigious Padma Shree and Dronacharya awards at the hands of president of India, Jaspal Rana was the pride of India and Uttarakhand having trained hundreds of budding shooters at the ian India level.

According to the latest shocking news Jaspal Rana, a renowned international shooter and coach from Uttarakhand, has passed away. Rana, 49, who felt uneasy while returning from Germany. He was admitted to Max Hospital, Saket, a few days after arriving in India.
Jaspal Rana won a gold medal at the 1994 Asian Games. He also won several gold medals at the Commonwealth Games and World Championships.

He also tried his luck in politics and contested the 2009 Lok Sabha elections as a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from the Tehri Garhwal parliamentary constituency but lost.

Entire Uttarakhand and the shooting and sports fraternity in the country is in absolute shock and prays to Almighty to render peace to the departed soul.

It may be recalled that while the International Shooter Jaspal Rana was returning back from Germany after articulating in the International Shooting championships he complained of breathing complications and acute pain in his chest and after landing at Palam Airport immediately admitted in the Max Hospital Saket where he was provided with a stent and his health monitored by eminent cardiac surgeons.

After convalescing for few days he breathed his last sending shock waves all around. The union Defence minister and father in law of Jaspal Singh Rana’s sister Rajnath Singh is shocked to hear the heartwrenching news.

He wrote on X : I am shocked and saddened by the sudden passing of internationally renowned shooter Jaspal Rana. Jaspal was an outstanding athlete and coach, as well as a very easy going, simple, and kind-hearted person. He played a significant role in popularizing shooting as a sport in India.

Jaspal Rana brought glory to India worldwide by winning gold medals at the World Shooting Championships and the Asian Games. His passing is a significant loss to the Indian sports world said the union Defence minister while paying his condolences.

I knew him and his father, Narayan Singh Rana, personally. I interviewed him several times and had a family relationship with him. His passing at such a young age is a deeply saddening experience for me. My condolences to his family. Om Shanti
