Swaraj India founder Yogendra Yadav heckled, forcibly pushed and attacked in Akola,Maharashtra

The founder of Swaraj India and Bharat Jodo Abhiyan who was in Akola, Maharashtra today Yogendra Yadav was heckled, pushed and attacked by forty to fifty persons compelling him to run away from his meeting which was literally disturbed with hooligans throwing chairs giving a clear impression that they were send by some interested party or group with the sole aim to not let Yogendra Yadav meeting happen. What is most worrisome part of this episode was that even after police arriving at the scene and trying to avoid the disturbance, the hooligans continued heckling him, surrounding him in anger and making him run for safety with police personnel of no use or relevance to bring the troublemakers to task. Had the police not been there ,the Swaraj India leader would have confronted serious physical attacks though there were enough physical pushes by the hooligans compelling him to get out of the meeting and run for safety. Meanwhile he posted a video on his social media handle and narrated the entire incident accusing the police and the hooligans of creating the mischief and engineering physical attacks on him in the presence of the police which looked hapless. He said he will again come back to Akola and is not afraid of this hooliganism. He wrote on X : The attack on me and my colleagues of Bharat Jodo Abhiyan in Akola (Maharashtra) today is a matter of grave concern for every democracy lover. As part of the Vidarbha tour of Bharat Jodo Abhiyan, we were holding a conference on the topic “Protection of Constitution and our vote”, when a mob of 40-50 people climbed on the stage and moved towards me to stop me from speaking. We remained seated and local colleagues formed a circle and protected us. Even after the police arrived, the rioters continued to attack and vandalize. The meeting ended there. In the last 25 years, I have given lectures at many places in Maharashtra, but this has never happened before. This is sad not only for Maharashtra but also for those who believe in the Constitution and democracy. This incident further strengthens our dedication towards protecting our democracy. Whoever is scared of what I say, listen – I will come back to Akola! said the founder of Swaraj India and a renowned psephologist.
