“Swachhata Hi Seva” (SHS) 2024 program to commence at Dredging Corporation of India Ltd (DCIL) from September 17th to October 1st followed by Swachh Bharat Diwas on 2nd October

Visakhapatnam, 15th September 2024:

The “Swachhata Hi Seva” (SHS) 2024 program will officially commence at Dredging Corporation of India Ltd (DCIL), starting from September 17th 2024 to October 1st 2024 and thereafter Swachh Bharat Diwas will be celebrated on 2nd October 2024.

This initiative is part of a larger, nationwide cleanliness drive that aims to mobilize millions of citizens towards maintaining cleanliness as a societal norm.

The campaign emphasizes behavioural change with the theme of “Swabhav Swachhata, Sanskar Swachhata,” which promotes cleanliness as a habit embedded in our values.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) campaign, which has been observing its annual celebrations since 2014 in tribute to Mahatma Gandhi’s legacy on Gandhi Jayanti, October 2nd. Over the past decade, the SHS campaign has played a pivotal role in instilling cleanliness as a core value in our society, inspiring millions to take action towards a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable India. Dredging Corporation of India Limited will be organizing various activities like “EK Ped Maa Ke Naam” as a tribute to our mother, wherein each DCIL employee shall plant a sapling to mark the occasion. Further, as part of celebrations, other activities being planned by DCIL includes engagement with school children to increase awareness on cleanliness, cleaning of roads, in and around Visakhapatnam, taking Swachhata Pledge and forming Human Chain, Swachhata activities in Govt Schools, engagement with college and school children by conducting various competitions like Essay, Painting, Slogan and poster competition, Swachhata activities in Govt Schools and Cleanliness Drive at Ramakrishna Beach etc.

Further, similar programmes have also been planned at our Regional Offices and Project Offices located across the country. Similarly, swachhata awareness campaign is also to be conducted at our Dredgers deployed across various Ports. The execution of these programs is being meticulously overseen by Dr. M. Angamuthu, IAS, Chairman of DCIL & VPA, and Sri Durgesh Kumar Dubey, IRTS, MD & CEO of DCIL, ensuring their successful implementation and impactful outreach.
