SONAM WANGCHUK ARRESTED UNDER NSA , SHIFTED TO JODHPUR JAIL

The environmental activist , prestigious Megsaysay award recipient Sonam Wangchuk who was on the fifteenth days hunger strike spearheading the movement for seeking statehood for Leh Ladakh and bringing it under sixth Schedule of the constitution have been arrested yesterday and shifted to Jodhpur jail under stringent National Security Act for instigating the protestors to resort to violence the charges strongly denied by him and his supporters.
The environmental activist Sonam Wangchuk had yesterday given up the hunger strike in view of the peaceful protest turning into a violent incidents in which the BJP office was burnt and their flags torn including truck burnt and other properties too.
Wangchuk was likely to address the virtual press conference when he was arrested.
While breaking the hunger strike after fifteen days Wangchuk said that he is doing so because the protest has formed violent and he do not want it to escalate further.
He appealed to the protestors to give up and be peaceful.
The violence started after two activists of Leh ABL on hunger strike fell unconscious and their physically condition started turning for the worse.
There were about 7500 people gathered at the protest site where usually five hundred people gather reveal sources.
In addition to the arrest of Sonam Wangchuk under the NSA the authorities revoked FCRA etc on his NGO and also initiated the in-depth probe started.
The arrested activist under NSA Sonam Wangchuk had claimed that arresting him under the stringent NSA is a ploy by the government to put him in jail for two years but this will not deter his determination said Wangchuk rather will emerge from here stronger.
Sonam Wangchuk in jail will create more problem for the government than Sonam Wangchuk out of jail said the activist.
Meanwhile the union government has called the activists of Leh ABL for negotiations in 7 th October to arrive at amicable solution to the ongoing complex issue.
