Leopard that entered a house in village KATHUR, Sithonsiun in Pauri Garhwal district under Kot block captured in a cage !
A leopard, may be a man eater, has been trapped in an iron cage of the forest department Nagdev Range on the complaint of the residents of village Kathur in Sithonsiun patti under the jurisdiction of Pauri Garhwal district.
The carnivore ( leopard) called Guldaar had entered a house in the village Kathur badly frightening the family. The panicked residents of the village has brought it to the knowledge of the SDM of Nagdev range who further informed the forest range of Pauri to fix an iron cage to capture the leopard. The carnivore has made a domestic animal his prey.
Finally after the intensive efforts of the forest department officials, the leopard was finally trapped in the cage to the relief of the panicked villagers.
Kindly recall that some months ago a man eater had entered the village and had grievously injured a woman n a man finally being caught in the cage after a day or two with panicked villagers heaving a great sigh of relief.
This is the second incident of the Guldaar being trapped by the forest official in village Kathur of Pauri Garhwal district.
The author also belongs to the same village gradually visiting there but usually living in the national capital.
Leopards, some man eaters have become quite a terror to villagers in Garhwal and Kumaun regions killing human beings, especially women working in agricultural fields n school going children as well.
There have been umpteen instances of man eaters roaming around freely in these regions prowling for human flesh, posing direct threat to human lives and domestic animals.
In Lansdown, Kaljikhal block areas, Bironkhal, Pauri Garhwal, Tehri and Rudraprayag districts – there have been several dreaded instances of human kills and grabbing of old women and children from house compounds and filling brutally killing them by man eaters.
Few months ago in Ram Nagar Corbet National Park road a pillon rider was killed after a ferocious man eater literally raced with the bike and pounced upon him grabbing and dragging him to the jungles with his mutilated body parts found scattered in different locations by the search party later on.
Tragic road accidents, man eater kills, tragedies due to boulder falls from top of the mountains and landslides have become order of the day in Uttarakhand unfortunately.
