Former Delhi CM Atishi accuses Delhi education minister for being hand in glove with the private school owners in fee hike. Urges Delhi CM to return the increased fees to parents

The former chief minister of Delhi Atishi Marlena has directly accused the Delhi government and its education department for being hand in glove with the private school owners in increasing the fees every year by more than ten percent overburdening the parents of the students studying in these schools, the freedom of which wasn’t increased since the last decade while the AAM AADMI Government was in power in the national capital.
Accusing the Delhi education minister of patronising the private school owners and giving them free hand to increase the fee every year Atishi made a startling revelation quoting a reliable source that on 6 April a meeting at the behest of the owner of Mount Abu School Mr.Arora was held on Sunday with the Delhi education minister Ashish Sood clandestinely in which all the private school owners were allegedly assured that since the matter of fee hike is hot these days let the soured tempers of the parents come down then we will issue the circulars of every year ten percent fee hike in private schools on regular basis said Atishi refering the name of Delhi Education minister Atishi Marlena.
The former Delhi chief minister Atishi was yesterday addressing a press conference accusing the Delhi education minister Ashish Sood to be in clear hand in glove with the Delhi private public schools’ s owners giving them a free hand to raise the schools fees by ten percent annually.
Patting the previous AAP government led by the then Delhi CM Arvind Kejrival Atishi said that they had during ge last ten years never raised any feedback of private schools and had got the audit done by the CAG approved chartered accountants every year. But the BJP government has after coming to power a month before has shown its actual colours and given its nod to increase the fees of private schools by ten percent negatively impacting the parents already overburdened said Atishi.
In a letter written to Delhi chief minister Atishi reiterated that it has come to our knowledge that a meeting was held between the current education minister of Delhi Mr. Ashish Sood and private schools representatives on April 6 th 2025. During this meeting the private schools were assured that they would be allowed to raise the fees once the protests of the parents died down. Atishi also warned that the AAP would join the protest of the parents if the government fails to act promptly and urged the chief minister to take action forthwith. She further wrote to CM asking her to immediately issue an order for schools to stop charging the increased fees, reimburse parents who had already paid the revised fees, order immediate audit of the school accounts who wish to increase their fees. No schools be allowed any feedback hike until their accounts are audited said Atishi with the Delhi education minister Ashish Sood coming down heavily on her saying that some unemployed leaders have no real work than to hold so called press conferences to always remain in the news. The parents yesterday protested in the Indra prastha school and one of the affected parents wrote a letter to the Delhi education minister strongly protesting against this fee hike.
