Jot Singh Gunsola from Tehri, Godiyal from Pauri, Pradeep Tamta from Almora declared
Three Congress candidates have been declared in Uttarakhand today and they are the former lawmaker of Srinagar Garhwal and former president of Uttarakhand Congress Ganesh Godiyal, Pradeep Tamta former MP from Almora, and Jot Singh Gunsola from Tehri, former MLA from Mussoorie. Ganesh Godiyal was earlier shirking to contest but finally agreed reveal sources. The candidate from Almora Reserve Ajay Tamta had been MP twice, once from Rajya Sabha and as Lok Sabha MP. He is in close proximity to former chief minister Harish Rawat. The two other parliamentary constituencies whose candidates have not been declared are Nainital and Haridwar. The Congress high command is finding it difficult to declare candidates because the heavy weights like Harish Rawat, Pritam Singh and Yashpal Arya etc have politely refused to contest though Rawat is asking ticket for his son from Haridwar parliamentary constituency, represented by him earlier. Rawat’s wife had also contested from Haridwar and list few years ago. His daughter is also the MLA from Haridwar ( Rural) assembly constituency. The BJP has already declared tickets from three constituencies repeating the sitting MPs from Nainital, Ajay Bhatt, Ajay Tamata from Almora and Maharani Rajya Lakshmi from Tehri Garhwal. The tickets from Pauri Garhwal and Haridwar seats have been kept pending for now with names of Anil Baluni, former Rajya Sabha MP and BJPs national spokesman and media in-charge. Political analysts say that the candidates declared who are contesting half heartedly against BJP candidates seem to have already accepted defeat as Tehri candidate Gunsola is over aged and Pradeep Tamta, former MP twice hot that active in his constituency for long being in Rajya Sabha for six years having lost contact from the grass root workers. Ganesh Godiyal contesting from Pauri Garhwal is an imposed candidate as he had reportedly refused to contest earlier.
