Gandhi Jayanti and Swachh Bharat Diwas 2024, Uttarakhand Governor inaugurates a plastic bank statement Raj Bhawan

The Governor of Uttarakhand, Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, VSM (Retired) inaugurated a Plastic Bank today at the Raj Bhawan (Governor House) in Dehradun.

In a program conducted on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti and Swachh Bharat Diwas on October 2, 2024; the Governor announced establishment of the Plastic Bank.

The program was coordinated by the Uttarakhand Pollution Control Board (UKPCB) and stakeholders were informed that the Plastic Bank would be launched at the Raj Bhawan with SDC’s involvement.

Many senior government officials including Shri RK Sudhanshu, IAS, Principal Secretary- Forest and Environment, Government of Uttarakhand; Dr Dhananjai Mohan IFS and Head of Forest Force, Government of Uttarakhand and Dr Parag Dhakate, IFS and Member Secretary, Uttarakhand Pollution Control Board were present during the program apart from many other officials and a range of non government stakeholders.

According to Anoop Nautiyal, founder member SDC the establishment of our 211th Plastic Bank at the Raj Bhawan in Dehradun is testament to the impact the project is creating at a local level. We hope that with the further engagement of the Government of Uttarakhand in the Plastic Bank project, we will be in a position where we will be able to create a larger impact through this community driven, environment and societal initiative said Nautiyal.

He added that as of today, the SDC is associated with close to 80,000 people largely in Dehradun through the network of Plastic Banks spread across many Maggi Points on the Dehradun-Kimadi-Mussoorie route, schools, hostels, universities, showrooms, RWAs, government offices and several other locations.

Finally Anoop Nautiyal on behalf of SDC thanked the Airbus India for all the support in the implementation of the Plastic Bank project in Dehradun & in the state of Uttarakhand further emphasising that the initiative has only been made possible due to their generous support and collaboration.
