Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal arrested by ED.

The Delhi chief minister and national convenor of AAP Arvind Kejriwal has been arrested by the Enforcement Directorate after he skipped 9 notices issued by the agency. Arvind Kejriwal will be the first working chief minister having been arrested. He has been arrested on the money laundering case pertaining to the the new liquor policy case in which the former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia is already in jail for over a year or so.

Today was the hearing in Delhi high court after the Delhi CM has filed a petition seeking protection from coercive action by the ED authorities as argued by Kejrival’s advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi who had said that his client is prepared to present himself before the authorities but he needs protection from coercive action or possible arrest.

The ED has said that they have sufficient evidence against the Delhi CM in the new liquor excise policy case pertaining to alleged money laundering etc.

Meanwhile the Delhi Finance minister Aatishi on social media platform X wrote : We have moved the Supreme Court for quashing the arrest of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, by ED. We have asked for an urgent hearing by the Supreme Court tonight itself said the AAP minister in Delhi government Aatishi on X.

Arvind Kejriwal will continue to be its CM even after being arrested said the AAP.

Reacting to Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest the Delhi BJP chief Veerendra Sachdeva said that “Arvind Kejriwal was continuously making excuses in the liquor policy scam since 2020-21 and the kind of political theatrics he was doing has been put to an end today. Today finally the truth has won and I believe that the conspiracy hatched by Arvind Kejriwal and his government to push the entire youth into alcoholism was bound to result in this. Truth had to prevail and Arvind Kejriwal had to be punished for his sins.”

The TMC MP Derek OBrian wrote on X : We vehemently condemn the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal, an elected CM, especially when EC is in charge & MCC is in place. Earlier his administrative powers were snatched through an illegal ordinance. How can we expect fair elections in India if sitting CMs & prominent opposition leaders are arrested weeks before polls? If SC & ECI fail to act now, who will stand with people against BJP’s oppressive politics in future?

Delhi CM will be produced in the Court tomorrow.
