Congress accuses the ruling party to cripple it financially in view of the fast approaching general elections

The Congress general secretary and Communication In charge of AICC Jairam Ramesh accused the ruling political dispensation for allegedly misusing various probe agencies to extort huge donations from various private companies for BJP and demanded Supreme Court monitored probe into this imbroglio. In a press conference today the senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said that during the four years from 2018 to 2022-23 the central probe agencies, CBI, IT and ED carried out the probe against thirty private companies whose names are available on the Website of Election Commission and the Bharatiya Janata Party received the funds of Rs 335 crores from these companies being investigated by the probe agencies. This no a secret but an open fact which was declared by the BJP. The Congress leader has termed it nothing but unambiguously ” hafta Vasuli”, meaning weekly extortion. He further added that that there are some other companies who hadn’t been paying any “Chanda”, (fund) to the saffron party before 2018, they had started paying hefty funds to them. There are some other companies who were giving funds to Congress party.The probe have been started against them and they have given up paying any funds to Congress Party. Ramesh said if any company is doing illegal business it should definitely be probed for the wrong doings, but after allegedly threatening them and commencing probe against them through ED, CBI and IT and then compelling them to pay hefty amount as party fund is not by a HAFTA VASULI, said Jairam Ramesh. This is clearcut a political blackmail and nothing else said the Congress leader further releasing the copies of the letters written by the party general secretary K.C.Benugopal to the union finance minister Dr.Nirmala Sitaraman highlighting various instances of what Jairam Ramesh expressed in his press conference. He waived the copies of the letters handing over to the media persons. The Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said that there is a clear cut conspiracy of the ruling party to cripple the Congress party of funds so that it becomes financially weak and not able to contest competitively in the general elections.
