Climate change activist Wangchuk and others on on hunger strike under detention. Delhi CM not allowed to meet him !
The renowned climate change activist matching towards Delhi demanding inclusion of Ladakh in the 6 th Schedule of the constitution after covering one thousand kilometres trying to enter Delhi for staging a sit in at Jantar Mantar and paying tributes on 2 nd October at Gandhi Samadhi were not allowed to enter Delhi yesterday and all the 170 activists which even included 80 years old persons , women and men were arrested. The climate activist recipient of prestigious Megsaysay award Sinam Wangchuk and a part of his colleagues have been kept in Bawana jail while the rest in, Kanjjawala and Narela. All the arrested activist of Ladakh led by Sonam Wangchuk now under detention have gone on indefinite fast while under detention in different locations. The Delhi chief minister Atishi Marlena Singh who went to Bawana to meet the Ladakh based climate change activist was not allowed to meet her. This is something quite unusual. Expressing her immense disenchantment over the dictatorial attitude of Delhi police not allowing her to meet the arrested activists including their leader Sonam Wangchuk , Delhi CM Atishi said in Hindi on her social media handle X writing : I reached Bawana police station to meet Sonam Wangchuk ji and 150 brothers and sisters of Ladakh. Delhi police did not let me meet them. It is being told that LG sahab called and said not to let me meet the elected Chief Minister. This dictatorship is not right. Sonam Wangchuk ji and the people of Ladakh are also fighting against LG rule, fighting to get full statehood status for Ladakh. The people of Delhi stand with the people of Ladakh. LG rule should end in Ladakh, LG rule should also end in Delhi. Ladakh and Delhi should get the status of a full state write Atishi on X. It may be recalled that a social organisation of Uttarakhand Uttarakhand Ekta Manch had also extended its full support to Sonam Wangchuk and were to participate at the silent protest at Jantar Mantar in favour of inclusion of the Ladakh UT under the sixth schedule of the constitution and Uttarakhand under 5 th Schedule fully supported by the Ladakh based climate activist Sonam Wangchuk. Yesterday Congress leader and LOP Rahul Gandhi strongly criticized the detention of Sonum Wangchuk and his colleagues not allowing them to enter Delhi at Singhu Border. Rahul write on X : The detention of Sonam Wangchuk ji and hundreds of Ladakhis peacefully marching for environmental and constitutional rights is unacceptable. Why are elderly citizens being detained at Delhi’s border for standing up for Ladakh’s future? Modi ji, like with the farmers, this ‘Chakravyuh’ will be broken, and so will your arrogance.
