CA Rajeshwar Painuly who joined Congress in 2018 resigns from primary membership of Congress party

A chartered accountant with his career scanning four decades who had joined Uttarakhand Congress in 2018 during the tenure of the then president, and now leader of the opposition in the assembly an active ticket aspirant from Pratap Nagar constituency, in Tehri Garhwal district, Uttarakhand has today resigned from the primary membership of the party thanking the then president of Uttarakhand Congress Pritam Singh, former CM Harish Rawat, present president Ganesh Godiyal n other state Congress leaders for their cooperation etc. There are unconfirmed news reports of the Pratap Nagar ticket having been finalised in favour of the former MLA from here in 2012 Vikram Singh Negi. The sitting lawmaker from Pratap Nagar seat is Vijay Singh Panwar, popularly known as Guddu bhai. He is the two term BJP MLA from Pratap Nagar. Recently, before his resignation Rajeshwar Painuly had met the state BJP president Madan Kaushik, the state BJP observer, Rajya Sabha MP and general secretary Mr. Gautam and the national media chief n MP RS Anil Baluni terming his meetings as coursey call, while being in Congress. He had also met the Tehri Garhwal Lok Sabha MP Maharani Rajya Lakshmi with who he had old relations being in BJP earlier. He had also contested as Independent candidate from Pratap Nagar earlier fairing quite well. A chartered accountant by profession Rajeshwar Painuly had been in regular contact with his electorates and had organised number of health camps during Covid 19 challenging times in his constituency. He had relentlessly struggled to finally get the Dobra Chanti bridge constructed which was delayed for several years in which lot of corruption allegedly took place as alleged by him. Though after resigning from Congress it is, still not confirmed whether he will join his old party BJP though he had met all the top leaders recently presenting them bouquets and holding consultations but there are reports that he may contest as an independent candidate, in case not obliged by BJP. However, it remains to be seen if the BJP cuts the ticket of its two term MLA, which seems to be a neigh too impossible proposition in any case. In his press release in Hindi Rajeshwar Painuly wrote : He resigns forthwith from the primary membership and all posts of the Congress party with immediate effect, the membership which he gained under the presidentship of the then Congress president Pritam Singh Rawat in 2018. I thank one and all including late Indira Hridayeshji, former Uttarakhand CM Harish Rawat, Uttarakhand Congress president Ganesh Godiyal and leader of the opposition Pritam Singh for their cooperation and support said the press release. He assured that he will continue to extend his support n cooperation for the development of the state and cordial harmony in Uttarakhand. He concluded saying that he wished for the enlightened future of Uttarakhand Congress and extended his good wishes as well.
