Dehradun was left stunned by a sensational triple murder in Raipur on Tuesday where a plumber allegedly killed an elderly couple and their maid with a screwdriver.
The chilling incident was reported from Vishnulok Colony under Raipur police station area where police have arrested accused plumber Rajkumar. According to police, the accused had been doing plumbing work at the house of the elderly couple for the last nearly two years and was called by them for work on Tuesday as well.
After completing the work, an argument broke out between him and the couple over payment. Police said in the heat of the moment the accused attacked the couple with the screwdriver he was carrying. The deceased have been identified as Rajni Kapoor, 75, and her husband Ramesh Kapoor, 80.
It is learnt that hearing the screams of the elderly couple, the maid working in the neighbouring house, Tilaya Devi alias Sheela, 48, rushed to intervene and the accused allegedly attacked her also with the screwdriver, leading to her death.
On getting information police reached the spot and took the three injured to Coronation Hospital where doctors declared them dead. Police have recovered the screwdriver used in the offence from the spot and CCTV footage from the crime scene and surrounding areas shows the accused going alone towards the house of the elderly couple.
Police have arrested accused Rajkumar and said a thorough investigation into all aspects of the case is underway. The triple murder has shocked the entire city.
