A woman of Pendula Gram Sabha died of forest fire injuries after her leg slipped while dousing the fire
A serious tragedy has occured in the Kirti Nagar development Block’s village Pendula ( PipolaSenj) where a woman aged fifty years succumbed to burn injuries after her leg slipped while she was busy dousing the fire when she had gone their to arrange fodder/ cut grass for the domestic pets cows, buffaloes and goats etc.
According to the news, under the Devprayag constitiency in Tehri Garhwal, the jurisdiction of Kirti Nagar Development Block a fifty years old woman of Gram Sabha Pendula succumbed to the severe injuries of massive fire after she fell down several metres ahead in the burning jungle due to slipping of her leg when she was douzing the fire with other forest fire fighters and locals.
The most disturbing news is – despite this heartwrenching tragedy taking place and the jungles burning badly the wild and forest department of Pauri Garhwal was conspicuous by its absence.
Had there been the forest department officials or fire extinguishing system at work the life of the village woman could have been saved fir sure.
The Devprayag MLA Vinod Kandari met the aggrieved family members and presented them a cheque of Rs. Four Lakhs and assured of all possible support in the future.
Forest fires in Uttarakhand has spread in many jungles of Garhwal and Kumaon divisions and last summers more than 537 thiusand acres of forests have be destroyed in the summer forest fires whereas till now this year 818 acres of forests land have been destroyed due to the uncontrolled forest fires.
