There is tremendous concern over the suicide of a 19 year old young boy Pankaj Kumar at Satpuli three days ago when the victim was incessantly harrassed , thrashed and totrured mentally and physically by the local police leading to the youth going into depression and forced to take this drastic step of committing tragical suicide by hanging from the bridge in full public glare.
Entire Pauri Garhwal district is under immense shock and representatives of the Congress party in particular including the angered and infuriated local populace are up in the arms and are demanding immediate registration of FIR against the erring police officer and subsequent termination from service including legal stringent action.
Today, the state Congress chief and former lawmakers from Shrinagar , Garhwal, Rajpal Bisht, former defeated candidate of Congress from Chowbattakhal, and Mr. Muyal and several other dignified citizens met the SSP Pauri in the police station of Satpuli and demanded immediate registration of the FIR against the erring police officials who had seized the motorbike of the youth and thrashed him sending him into immense depression.
The boy was so badly harmed physically and mentally say the Uttarakhand Congress chief Ganesh Godiyal that he was forced to take the drastic step of Suicide by hanging under the Satpuli bridge.
Though the SSP police is trying to convince the people and the state chief Godiyal that they are thoroughly investigating the matter to bring the real culprits to book , the Congress leaders say that nothing less than FIR against the erring police officials who led to his suicide will satisfy them.
The dead body of the victim had already been sent for post mortem but surprisingly the report has not yet arrived to reach as the definite conclusion of the death.
Ganesh Godiyal asked is there provision in any law which gives the police the power to beat an innocent young boy terribly leading to his taking such a drastic step.
He said that the boy was so badly thrashed that he had no option but to get rid of his life which is no less than a murder under pressure said Congress chief of the state Ganesh Godiyal.
Some dignified citizens also asked the SP as to why police has not tried to prevent this death after the video went viral in social media.
They said had the local police been vigilant and humane they should have averted this tragedy.
Meanwhile,Godiyal also met the aggrieved parents of the deceased Pankaj Kumar at Raitpur, Satpuli and expressed his deepest condolences assuring the family of all posible legal and financial help from the government. He posted in Hindi on X :
